Happy Tuesday, friends!  With the high temps around 70 or lower everyday this week in Southern California, it’s time to pull out ALL of the fall things!  Hats, scarves, OTK boots – bring it on.  Admittedly, I’m half-kidding and halfway just jumping the gun, but I seriously love fall accessories.  And my fave in particular?  A thick and cozy blanket scarf.

They go with pretty much any fall look I could put together, and I love pairing the plaid versions with stripes or similar plaids for a mixed prints look.  When it’s actually cold out, a good blanket scarf has some serious warming power and doubles as a pillow or blanket (duh!) for those holiday travel plans.  (I legit take one on every single winter flight.)

They last season after season, so I used to snag mine for $30, $40, or even $50 from Zara, ASOS, or similar stores, but not anymore, friends.  I’ve found the blanket scarf Mecca, and I promptly ordered a couple more colors for my collection.  There are 13 colors to choose from, and each one will cost you around $12 or less.  (Some are just $9.)

So whether you live in actual cold weather and want to stock up or just want to cross a few early holiday gifts off your list, head over here and throw a couple blanket scarves in your cart.  Bonus?  Everything is better with Amazon Prime, right?  Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Holy, shamoly, y’all – was yesterday hot around here or what?  Southern California was seriously scorching yesterday with a high of 104, and I think Weeze and I were both going a little bit nuts.  It probably wasn’t my warmest day ever (pretty sure that award goes to the afternoon and evening spent at Flora Farms in Mexico – straight up SCORCH), but it was definitely up there.

So in today’s edition of “the fall trends I’m loving but can’t even come close to wearing in real life right now,” I present to you this plaid jacket.  And not just any plaid.  If you’re looking for the “It print” or hot fabric this season, it’s definitely Glen plaid.  It’s seriously everywhere for fall – skirts, pants, dresses (also love this one), and mostly, jackets.

While Glen plaid blazers are currently winning in the popularity department, I opted for this little lightweight version because bombers are the bomb.  Haha!  See what I did there?!  This heat, guys.  Delusional.  Actually, a strange thing happened.  I was online searching for these plaid pumpkins for my dining room when this jacket just jumped right in my cart too.  Craziest thing.

And I’m so glad that it did.  It’s pretty light so that once this heatwave business takes a bit of a chill pill I can wear it with ALL the things – dresses, jeans, skirts, whatever.  It also comes in a super fun floral print and will set you back right around $40.  Not bad, right?  You can take that under $50 change and throw in one of the plaid pumpkins.  Or, you know, don’t.  Up to you.

What do you guys think of the Glen plaid trend?

If there’s one thing that my closet definitely doesn’t lack, it’s plaid, plaid, and a little more plaid.  As I type this post and stare into my closet (that STILL has no closet doors on it…), the “plaid section” is quite noticeable.  And for good reason.  In the fall here, I live in plaid shirts and dresses because they’re the easiest way to dress the part for fall without suffering some massive heat stroke.  Admittedly, I’ll probably pair this plaid dress with over-the-knee boots a little too early in the season and suffer the consequences, but it’s all worth it, right?  And I’ll do it with some sort of pumpkin spice something in hand.  For now though, I’m loving this plaid mini with peep-toe ankle booties and the denim jacket that I probably wear WAY too much in the fall.  If you don’t have a denim jacket that you love, it’s time to get one, girl, and then throw it over your shoulders, tie it around your waist, or actually, you know, wear it.  For me, this plaid mini is the best plaid shirtdress I’ve found so far because I love the loose fit, shorter length, and pockets, but below I’m rounding up a few more shirtdresses that I love and they’re all under $100.  I’m thinking this plaid section of mine could use a couple of new additions this year.

If you follow this blog or perhaps my Instagram, you may notice I’ve got a little thing for plaid.  If you see me on the weekends, you’ll know that it’s more of a BIG thing for plaid.  Huge, really.  I live for a comfy, cozy plaid button-down paired with denim, and to me, it’s the ultimate down-time uniform.  After a couple of days of playing tourist around New Orleans with Jenn (that recap, still to come), I couldn’t wait to slip into this soft-as-hell Wayf plaid complete with the coziest booties.  Because “slipping into something more comfortable” doesn’t have to be sweats.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Well it was only a matter of time before the ultimate plaid lover (me) started stacking the print, and today’s look with Old Navy is pretty much bringing out my inner lumberjack.  There’s just no better print for fall, and faced with the decision of plaid shirt or checked cape, I was like…both.  On that note, I’ve never been one to pass up a good poncho or cape, and right now Old Navy has tons of them in all shapes and sizes.  (This one is up next on my list.)  So head over to Old Navy where today only you can take 40% off of $100 purchase with code SPREE.  Happy shopping!

If there’s one print that I can’t get enough of this season, it’s hands-down plaid, and I’m loving it on anything.  From heels to bags, dresses to capes, and the good ole’ button-downs that everyone loves, must-have plaid pieces are everywhere and in every color.  A true testament to my plaid problem, my collection of plaid shirts continues to grow (I already own #2 above), and now I need, like, everything else.  Especially #5.  And #7, which is a total steal by the way.  Also, how killer would the heels at #6 be with a fitted LBD or black skinnies?  Oh, the possibilities.  Which of these would be your pick?

How was everyone’s weekend?  Not gonna lie, this one was another #oneforthebooks for me.  On Friday we received our Save the Dates from Minted, and I wasted no time getting them stuffed, sealed, and stamped.  Today they’ll be on their way which is one more thing to check off that wedding list.  I shared a little sneak peek here, but I’ll be sharing more on that later.  Then this weekend was the Newport Beach Food & Wine Festival, and I can think of pretty much nothing that’s more up my alley.  I met up with Kathleen and Ashley there to try ALL of the food, and most of the wine.  If you missed out this year, make sure you get there next year.  It was an awesome event that surpassed my expectations.  And well, WINE.  And food.  You get the idea.

Today I’m taking things back to New York during Fashion Week and sharing this plaid vest slash dress situation that is definitely one of my favorite pieces for fall.  It’s made by Wayf, who can pretty much do no wrong in my book.  The sleeveless design is perfect for our current weather, but how cute is it layered over a blouse?  So many options with this one.  Also, loving the unintentional coordination with Jenn, Kathleen, and Krystal in the group shot above and missing this group terribly.  Excited I’ll get to see little Jenn soon though when I visit New Orleans this week!  So excited – stay tuned for that trip.  Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

Lulu’s dress (c/o);  H&M jacket;  Rebecca Minkoff bag;  JustFab booties (c/o);  Kendra Scott bracelet and ring (c/o);  Forever 21 sunglasses

By far one of my favorite trends for fall this year involves plaid everything.  From dresses and tops to handbags and heels, I’m loving the preppy meets grunge feel of plaid pieces, and this dress from Lulu’s is so great for transitioning into the new season.  I wore it to last Saturday’s RewardStyle party during NYFW, and it was the perfect mini for an afternoon party.  Black booties, a leather jacket, and statement jewelry helped complete the look.  If you’re looking to add a little plaid into your fall wardrobe, look no further than Lulu’s for some seriously chic options.  Happy shopping, and happy Friday, everyone!

5 Cozy Holiday Looks from Walmart

Comfy cozy holiday travel style from Walmart | My Style Diaries blogger Nikki Prendergast Free Assembly sweater and knit pants; similar booties; red crossbody bag; hat; luggage set

I can’t even believe it, but Christmas Day is officially ten days away. Less than two weeks! And while my holiday shopping list is not yet done, at least I’ll be stress-free when it comes to getting dressed. From holiday travel to dinner parties to cozy couch hangs at home, Walmart seriously has easy, comfy pieces for every occasion. The knit set above seriously feels so luxe, and I can’t recommend the sweater dress below more. (Thinking I may need to snag the red version too.) Also don’t sleep on the Free Assembly denim – this pair fits and feels like a way more expensive pair.

Here’s hoping the next ten days are jolly and festive and filled with love…and some stress-free shopping.

It’s the MOST wonderful tiiiiime… The holidays are legitimately in full swing, and I couldn’t be more excited.  This year, I started early and got a little head-start on my holiday shopping, but similar to most years, I’ve lost a little momentum.  If you’re like me and still have lots of names on the old shopping list, don’t fret, my pet.  We’ve still got plenty of time, and today I’m rounding up some favorite gift finds for the gals, the guys, the homebodies and hosts, and everyone in between.  There are lots of different price points, and the shipping on most picks is super fast.  So take a little scroll if you’re looking to cross off a couple names.  Here’s wishing everyone stress-free shopping this holiday season.
