When packing for someplace tropical (or just beating the heat at home during the summer), you probably don’t immediately think of an activewear line to stock up on essentials.  Well, think again, friends.  Today I’m sharing one of my favorite little dresses from my recent trip to Mexico, and it’s from my very favorite activewear line, lucy.

I’ve been a fan of lucy’s leggings and tanks for years for actually working out, but in recent seasons, I’ve especially gravitated towards their dresses, jumpers, and separates to support my love of all things athleisure.  Today’s midi dress is just about as lightweight as they come, has a mesh detail in the back for added ventilation, and is just SO comfortable.  After a day in the sun or night out, it was pretty much the only dress I wanted to throw on and wear all day.  Plus, the fabric is so great for packing and travel because it stays pretty wrinkle-free and won’t look like a hot mess when you pull it out of your suitcase.

Other travel-friendly favorites include these denim-look leggings that are perfect for the plane, these easy crops that I want to live in, and this lightweight wrap cardigan that’s a go-to for chilly nights.  Well, and maybe this little jacket top too.  And everything else below.  When everything is this cute and comfy, picking favorites is hard to do!  Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

If you’ve been following along here for a while, you know that I’ve got a real thing for lucy activewear.  Like, big love.  Much more than just your average gym clothes (although their leggings and workout tops are hands-down, far and beyond, no questions asked my favorite on the planet), lucy has the best selection of leggings, jackets, sweaters, dresses, and so many other great pieces that get you from the gym to the rest of your day seamlessly.  Hellooo, athleisure trend.  This season’s collection is SO versatile and comfortable, and I’ve been working these new basics into so many day to night looks.

And now for the fun news!  This weekend is lucy’s anniversary and their biggest sale of the year.  Everything in-store and online will be 30% off (this NEVER happens), and it’s the perfect time to stock up on fall’s most comfy gear.  ANNNND, if you’re in the Orange County area, I hope you’ll join me at the lucy store in Corona Del Mar for a little in-store fun on Sunday, October 23rd from 3 to 5 pm.  I’ll be styling up favorites, and can’t wait to meet you guys!  Hope to see you there!

Another September Fashion Week in the books, and I’m not gonna lie, it was kind of a blur. I still have so much content to share with you guys, but today I’m sharing the easy-peasy, comfy, cozy pants that I now want to take on every trip in the future. Over the past couple of seasons the athleisure trend has been everywhere, and joggers of all styles are the stars of the show. And I’m so not mad at it. Is there anything I’d rather put on than a pair of slouchy joggers? Not really. And this lucy IndiGO pair just took things to a whole new level. These look like a favorite pair of denim, but they feel like the silkiest lightweight workout-wear. The translation? Pants you don’t want to take off in the chicest athleisure style. After hopping from show to show in heels, dresses, and who knows what else, I couldn’t wait to throw these on for exploring the city. (And truthfully, they totally could have made it into the shows with me.) Whether dressed up with mules and a loose blouse or worn casual with sneakers and my favorite leather jacket, these joggers were seriously MADE for travel.  Plus, check out the rest of the lucy IndiGO collection here, including the boyfriends and track jacket that I can’t get enough of.  I’m headed home for now, but not for long.  Tomorrow I take off for yet another city this week, and these joggers are already packed.

Who’s ready for a weekend getaway?!  Now I know what you’re thinking.  Umm, didn’t you JUST go to Bermuda and Miami?  But hear me out: When your new house is still under construction, your old lease is up, and you’re living out of suitcases anyway, you might as well take one of those suitcases on a little weekend getaway.  And even better than that, pack a small bag.  One bag.  And get outta town.  Road trip up the California coast, anyone?

It’s no secret around here that I’m a huge fan of lucy for sweat gear and (let’s face it) not-even-planning-to-sweat everyday basics, but did you know they also have some adorable day to night, sand to street pieces?  You do now, girl.  Check out the adorable LBD below or the shirt dress that’s also the easiest lightweight beach coverup.  (You have to feel the fabrics to believe them.)  The romper and long cardi that I chose above would make for the perfect airplane or road trip duo, and how cute (and versatile) is this black wrap top from my second look?  Cute, sure, but here’s the real kicker.  Every piece is lightweight, so comfortable, and won’t look like a wrinkled mess after you unpack it.  (Important, right?  No one wants to look like a slob kabob on vacay.)  So throw in a swimsuit, a few fun accessories, sneakers and sandals, grab your best guy or gal, and let’s go!  Destination: Anywhere.

I’ve never really liked working out.  Seriously, never.  It seemed like a hassle, like an extra thing to worry about in my day.  I’ve always gotten by with the occasional jog or long bike ride up until recently.  About a year ago I started to make it a priority to get out and move at least a couple times a week, and more recently I’ve started working out with the help of Erica Ziel, a fitness expert based here in Newport Beach.  She specializes in prenatal and after-baby fitness (two categories I do NOT fall into, FYI), but she really just knows a woman’s body well and targets specific muscles through her workouts for your desired needs.  She’s so good at what she does, tough enough to kick my butt into shape but also understanding of my less-than-stellar strength, and she’s helping me to fix my horrible posture.  (Should’ve listened to my parents all those years ago…)

For the first time, I actually really look forward to these workouts and am so glad that I’ve gone afterwards.  We normally do a mix of weights, mat exercises, and reformer machines in a local gym, but it’s been so nice here lately that outside is also an option.  (It doesn’t hurt that Newport Beach provides us with a lot of really great outdoor scenery.)  Now, a workout isn’t a hassle or something extra to worry about in my day.  It’s a necessary part, a time to kind of clear my head and enjoy a little break from my computer.  The time away has actually made me more productive when I start my day.  And let’s face it – if I’m going to work out, the clothes are key, right?   My go-to pieces are leggings and easy racerback tanks with something that I can throw on over it when I’m headed home.  (Or, more likely, headed to three errands before home.)  These basics from lucy.com are beyond comfortable and gym-to-street appropriate, perfect for days on the go.  Now, lucy is giving one lucky winner a little more “me time”.  Head over here to enter the “This Is For You Giveaway” where one reader will win one year of housecleaning, babysitting, or meal deliveries.  Good luck!
xoxo

P.S. – Huge thanks to Erica Ziel for getting my butt moving.  If you’re in Newport Beach, she’s amazing.  If you’re not, head here to check out her DVD’s, digital programs, and online training.

Happy new week, friends, and yes, I’m a day late with that but let’s just go with it here.  I’m currently in Playa de La Paz for the week, and y’all, it’s seriously beautiful.  (There will be a full recap coming up on the blog, but you can follow along this week over on the Instagram.)  And while I’d love to say that I’ve used these adorable lucy leggings to get ready for a full week in swimsuits, I’ll be honest, I’m living in these because they’re just plain cute.  And well, as comfy as can be.

BUT!  Jenn from Haute Off the Rack has convinced me that I’m going to try her #BBG workout while on vacay, and I have no idea why I said yes.  (Do any of y’all do this?  It seems intense, and I’m not quite sure if I’ve brought my A game with me to Mexico.)  I guess I need a little something to erase all of the upcoming margs and tacos or the unexpected Italian meal that we kicked things off with.  So I’ll finally be putting these leggings to use I suppose, and whether you want to work out in these or not, they’re pretty great to live in.

AND if you’re interested in dipping your toes in the comfy faux denim water, then head over here and enter to win a $500 gift card to lucy.  I’m extending the giveaway one full day and will announce a winner tomorrow morning.  Good luck!

New year, new me, y’all.  This is my year for working out, eating right, drinking way more water, and getting more sleep, yada yada.  But then you help throw a friend’s chicken and waffles birthday dinner on Friday night because his favorite food is fried chicken strips and adding in waffles only seemed natural and you obviously had to bake a Funfetti cake to top it all off.  Naturally.  Add in a couple of very rainy days spent on the couch, and this Monday is feeling a little extra sluggish.

Buuuut, I suppose there’s no better time to get back on track, so I’m kicking things off this Motivation Monday with a green juice and some of the cutest new activewear from lucy.  Nothing like some sweet new sweat duds to get my booty back in motion, and lucy is always my favorite.  This year I’m looking to add in a few new workouts (suggestions welcome!) as well as sticking with my normal routine of walking a couple of miles along the beach path – just as soon as this cuckoo rain lets up and stops flooding our construction site house and ruining the wood floors, but that’s a story for a different day.  For today, I’m just going with this little tidbit of advice and couldn’t help but passing it along:

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hope everyone has a great week ahead!
