New Year’s Eve again.  Are we really here?  Has it really been a whole year already?  Nuts, I tell ya.  But I can’t complain because it’s been such a crazy and amazing year.  Looking back on 2015, I can’t even believe the places I’ve gotten to go, the brands I’ve been fortunate enough to work with, the people I’ve met, and the friends and family that I’ve been so lucky to have by my side.  This blog has been an incredible ride from day one, full of really big ups and disappointing downs, but after four and a half years (crazy!), I could still pinch myself daily.  This year I found my wedding dress (yay!), traveled with girlfriends, road-tripped with my love, and witnessed a group of gals “freeing the nipple” during New York Fashion Week.    I pushed myself but also learned that it’s important to take a little down time.  (That Instagram can wait, right?)  I’ve had a lot of fun, and my sincere hope is that you’ve had a bit of fun following along.  I mean, this whole fashion thing should be fun, shouldn’t it?  And I owe you, the readers, the biggest thanks for all the love.  All the comments, shares, likes, emails, and Tweets.  You guys are amazing.  And so far, 2016 is looking pretty sweet.  I’m kicking off the new year with the usual fashion, a bit of fitness, awards season, and, oh yeah, the biggest party of my life.  #PrendergastAtLast  So here’s to you guys, and cheers to an amazing new year!

If you’ve been following along on Instagram (and I hope you have since that last computer of mine craaaashed, into a ditch…), I may have filled your feed with just a few too many photos from a recent trip to Cabo.  But hey, I just couldn’t help myself!  Kathleen, Jenn, Krystal, Taylor and I had the amazing opportunity to head down to Cabo for a week with Shop Bella C and stay in their beyond beautiful Casa Verde home in Pedregal.  (Casa Verde is a private home, but for those interested, there is a Resort at Pedregal that you should look into.)  At first I was a little nervous with the trip falling so close to New York Fashion Week (ahhh, so much to do, so little time…), but once we arrived, I knew that it would be the perfect relaxing week before the NY storm.

CaboFor starters, the house had a serious view:  two pools and ocean as far as the eye could see. – Shop Bella C kimono (c/o)

Before leaving for the trip we knew we wanted to check out Flora Farms, so we decided to go there for one of our first dinners.  We enjoyed delicious cocktails and a tour of the farm before dinner, but more on that in a later post.  You’ll quickly notice a theme here though: we tried LOTS of food!

IMG_7358Lunch at Hacienda Resort – so beautiful, and yum!IMG_7809Happy hour at a beach-side swing bar IMG_7385Becca swimsuit and coverup (c/o);  Shop Bella C Hat (c/o)

The last time I visited Cabo I checked out the Hacienda Resort and Beach Club and fell in love with the view…and maybe the margaritas too 🙂  So on Sunday we headed there for lunch before taking a short, glass-bottomed boat tour.  Afterwards we spent a lazy afternoon in the ocean and swinging away at a local swing bar.

Cabo, boat tour, Blue Sky CaboCoolchange Tunic Cabo boat tour Monday evening we took a sunset cruise with Blue Sky Cabo, and it was probably the coolest thing we did on the trip.  The water and the sunset views were SO beautiful, and the staff was amazing.  (Plus our lack of “sea legs” made for some pretty interesting dance moves that you may have seen on Snapchat.  If you missed those dance moves, well, it’s probably for the best.)  If you’re headed to Cabo anytime soon, I’d definitely recommend a sunset trip with Blue Sky Cabo.

We pretty much spent most of our time hanging out together at Casa Verde because besides the few places that we really wanted to visit, there just wasn’t much reason to leave.  (The house was seriously paradise.)  It was the end of August, but I was pretty determined to finally get a little summer tan going.  I think I kind of succeeded.  Kind of.

On our last day we decided it was time to pull ourselves off of the pool floats and head back into town for one last lunch.  Thanks to everyone’s Instagram recommendations we had tried Bar Esquina at the Bahia Hotel for dinner one night and loved it so much we went back for lunch.  We were treated to the most amazing food and cocktail tasting there, from fresh ceviche to salads and pizzas, and had the best service.  For dinner (I warned you earlier, LOTS of food!), we headed to Bar Esquina’s sister restaurant Templo.  We were once again treated to a full dinner and cocktail tasting, from quinoa with octopus, to beef cheek tacos, to steaks.  (It was definitely a little adventurous for me!)  The staff at Templo is incredible, and the food was a welcomed break from the norm in Cabo.  I left in a seriously happy food coma, and I’d say it’s a must if you’re looking for something different while visiting the area.

By the last day I was beginning to think that we could just stay at Casa Verde forever, but as they say, all good things must come to an end.  (Although Kathleen and I managed to keep the vacation alive for one more day with an extended layover and cancelled flight in Phoenix.  Cue the endless Snapchat snaps while searching for that damn Embassy Suites shuttle…)  We did eventually find our way home, and looking back at these photos I still can’t believe how fortunate I am to be able to take trips like this with girls that I genuinely love.  So very grateful to Shop Bella C for sending us off on this adventure and thankful to you guys, the readers, who are always there with social media restaurant recommendations, Snapchat encouragement (all the LOLZ), and the kindest words.  Hope everyone’s September is off to a great start!

A few weeks ago I shared part one of our engagement photos, and today I’m back for round two.  We started off our afternoon dressed up and jumpsuited in Corona Del Mar, and we ended it right in one of our favorite places: at the beach near our house.  While we might not normally hit the sand in jeans and a little white dress, we did feel right at home pretty quickly, and I think that Taylor Cole once again captured us perfectly.  (Not to mention the gorgeous golden sunset in the background.)  So happy Wedding Wednesday to the guy who can always make me smile.  Seven months (plus a few days) to go!

P.S. – This little white dress is a total steal at under $100, perfect for all brides to be out there or anyone looking for a great white dress.  Shop it and a few of my other favorites below!

Today’s Wedding Wednesday post is definitely one of my favorite ones yet.  It’s a sneak peek at a few of our engagement photos, and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out.  You may notice under most of my fashion posts that familiar line: “Photos thanks to Taylor Cole.”  She’s my go-to blog-photog and someone whose creative eye and amazing photography skills I’ve come to completely trust for my blog and my business.  She’s an amazing spirit, and I’m so grateful that I get to work with her all the time.  Even further, she’s really familiar with Eric and I and our relationship, so it’s pretty much the perfect fit that she’ll be our wedding photographer as well.  (Plus, she’s currently planning her own wedding, so it’s always fun to chat about the details.)

When it came time for our engagement photos, I must say that it seemed a bit daunting.  I take photos for the blog all the time, but posing for pictures is definitely not Eric’s favorite activity.  (Although he’s really photogenic.)  The afternoon turned out to be completely painless though, and dare I say, a lot of fun.  Eric was a great sport, and we laughed a lot.  I think the photos really capture that fun day for us.  Taylor is beyond talented, and I’m so incredibly excited that she’ll be traveling to New Orleans with us to capture the photos from our wedding in just about eight months!

The summer months are upon us, and that means one thing in my head: beach days ahead.  Recently I discovered coolchange, a New York brand with the most perfectly breezy beachwear that I could live in all summer.  From pants to tunics to jumpsuits, coolchange has your vacation wardrobe covered.  I didn’t have the patience to save this tunic for the next beach day, so I layered it over a slip dress, added gladiator sandals and called it a day.  Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

There’s probably only one spring staple that I love more than rompers and matching sets, and that, my friends, is the kimono.  It’s the perfect addition to almost anything, from jeans to jumpsuits and swimsuits, and in the world of kimonos, Flynn Skye is pretty tops.  (What can I say?  I’m playing favorites.)  I first came across the brand when working with the fabulous ladies of OC Style Report, and I was immediately obsessed.  The blue and white print is the perfect complement to the denim romper above and was quite the statement in the windstorm-like conditions this day.  And perhaps it helps distract from that supermodel (and blogger friend Jen) that I’m with?  Probably not though 🙂

A couple of weeks ago I finally got to check out the canals in Venice Beach, and I can’t believe I never made it there sooner.  Not that it’s some huge attraction to see, but I lived in LA for five years and pretty much never knew this area existed.  (What the?)  It’s such a cute little section of Venice, and I so enjoyed taking a stroll around in my favorite onesie pajamas jumpsuit.  This knit jumper is just about as soft as it gets without being actual pajamas, and by pairing it with a breezy kimono and my new favorite cushion-y wedges (seriously, so comfortable), I was pretty much in PJ heaven.  Comfy?  You betcha.  Just rolled out of bed?  I think not.

I love a good monochromatic look, and this spring and summer, I’m all about incorporating more blues into my wardrobe.  This jumpsuit from CAbi is one of those pieces you’ll find yourself reaching for again and again – from day to night, workday to weekend.  It’s so easy to dress up or down, and today it’s going down (for real) with a favorite denim jacket and metallic sandals.  This bucket bag is available in every necessary color for summer, fits all your crap, and makes just about any look better.  It’s a seasonless keeper that I’d definitely recommend.

Kardashian Kollection jumpsuit (c/o) Sears;  Rebecca Minkoff bag;  Banana Republic belt (similar);  Ray-Ban sunglasses

My love of a good jumpsuit has been well documented, so when I found this little number from Sears, it was a pretty easy purchase.  I love the tapered sleeves and the fact that there’s a tiny snap securing the wrap front.  I wore this recently to Eric’s company Christmas party (in January), and I felt comfortable in it all night.  (Comfort is key for a party that lasted a couple of extra hours and ended with a pinata in the rain.  Just saying.)  Here’s hoping your weekend is pretty kick-ass.
