A couple of weeks ago we had our first real taste of summer here, and I must say, it was pretty great.  There’s really nothing like a day at the beach to make you forget about the workweek and anything else weighing on your mind.  It’s why during the summer months here I pretty much live in a swimsuit.  Every year I stock up on a few go-to suits, and over the past couple of years, they’ve all been Becca.  I seriously, seriously just love their suits.  They offer a ton of styles, prints, and colors for all sizes, including those of us who need a little more coverage on top, and they won’t break the bank.  Every print has matching coverup options, and let’s be honest, I can’t resist a good coverup or caftan.  Give me a sheer muumuu or kimono and I’m one happy girl!  What are some of your go-to swimsuit brands?

Good morning, friends!  Admittedly I’m a little extra chipper this Monday morning as I’m coming off of an amazing long weekend in Palm Springs (I haven’t laughed so hard in a while) and heading into a fun little gal’s getaway to San Diego.  This morning I’m unpacking and packing again, but above I’m throwing it back to this sweet day in San Clemente.

Last week thanks to The Agency, the girls and I got to spend a day taking in the most amazing ocean views and making ourselves at home at 4130 Calle Isabella.  Y’all, this house and its location are INSANE.  I mean, a glass of champs while looking at this pool and the ocean in the background?  Sign me up any day of the week.  BTW, it’s for sale if any of my friends want to buy it and invite me over every day.

This swimsuit is a tried-and-true old favorite of mine that I currently own in about five colors.  It’s a simple triangle top, but it comes in sizes up to DDD and in so many colors.  It’s just a solid bikini choice for the busty gals, and you know I’m all about that.  And the denim on denim coverup?  Well I’m in a heavy denim phase these days, and these fringed shorts were a lucky $5 Zara sale find.  No joke.  And the chambray shirt from JoFit is SO good – if you’re looking for a little chambray, I can’t recommend this one more.

Welp, this suitcase isn’t gonna pack itself, but make sure you’re following along on Instagram for peeks at the next couple of days in San Diego.  Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

True story: when your friends from Lousiana visit you in California, you just HAVE to throw on a swimsuit and play tourist with them at the Surf & Sand Resort.  Right?  Just have to.  A couple of weeks ago, Jenn and Krystal made a little California visit, so I took one for the team and hung around this horrible scenery for the day.  Another true story: I now own this bikini top in like 5 colors, and it’s the absolute best for the busty girls out there.  (It comes in a bunch of sizes, all the way up to DDD.)  I’ve got my fingers crossed for some relaxing beach weather this Easter weekend, our last weekend before heading to New Orleans for our wedding!  Beach weather or not, here’s hoping everyone an amazing weekend ahead.

Since returning home from Cabo last week, my mind has turned to New York Fashion Week and everything fall fashion.  And while my mind may be on fall, I’ve got to be honest with myself: it’s still REAL warm in Southern California, and my wardrobe still has a little summer life left in it.  (I’m currently typing this with a fan blowing full-speed in my face.  And, like, I’m still sweating.)  Over the next week or so I’ll be sharing a couple more looks from our #SBCGetaway to Cabo, and this pool-side look has “beat the heat” written all over it.  My favorite kind of swim cover-ups are lightweight and not too sheer, and this one fits the bill perfectly.  And honestly, it really wouldn’t be too surprising to find me wearing this mid-week, sprawled out on our (somewhat) cool tile floor, typing away on my new, non-crashed computer.  Life is good, y’all.

All of the Home Inspiration at the Villas Fashion Island

Y’all, serious question here – does decorating a house from top to bottom for the first time ever really end?  Don’t get me wrong, our house has come a LOOONG way (and I’m so excited to share the before and after journey with you guys so soon), but it’s just these “finishing touches” that just keep lingering.  An empty shelf here, a missing rug there, and pretty much nothing hung on the walls…yet.

And then there’s the Palm Springs house which is currently in full decorating swing.  Basically, if you talk to me these days, I’ve got one thing on the brain: home decor.  So a few weeks ago I jumped at the chance to check out the brand new Villas Fashion Island community – I may not be in the market for a new apartment, but I’ll take all the home decor inspiration that I can get.

And guys, this place is pretty sweet.  They’ve really thought of everything, from the killer gym to the outdoor community pizza oven, the on-site cafe that serves wine to the five (yes, five) pools.  I mean, grab a glass of wine and throw a pizza into the outdoor pizza over?  Sign me up.  The model homes made me want to move right in, and I’ve since been on a serious hunt for that acrylic bar cart / table situation.  Tell me that bar table above isn’t serious goals!  Y’all, I NEED it, and so far, can’t find it.

Anywho, the moral of the story, if any of my friends are looking for some sweet new digs, well I’ve found ’em for ya.  But you have to promise to invite me over for the wine and pizza.

Cruising With Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean Cruise - 1 (18)OK, y’all, I’m a little overdue on this one, but today I’m so excited to share a few photos and thoughts from our cruise to Bermuda on the Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas.  If you were following along on Snapchat or Instagram during the cruise, you already know my general thoughts on it, and (*spoiler alert*) I thought it was top notch.  I had never been on a cruise before, and I’m not gonna lie – friends and family had warned me that the cruise life may not be my favorite based on tiny rooms, crowded dining halls, and cheesy activities.  I don’t know if it’s because we were on one of the newest and largest boats out there, but boy were they wrong.  Turns out, cruise life is my best life!

My first impression of the Anthem of the Seas: holy schmoly, this thing is huge.  I’m not even sure how many restaurants, bars, and shops were on that thing, but there are enough to eat somewhere new for every meal of the 5-day trip.  And when I saw my “tiny room”, I was beyond pleasantly surprised.  I mean, this thing was pretty spacious in my opinion, complete with two closets (with plenty of hangers – bonus), a queen-sized bed, couch, vanity area with a lighted mirror, and a balcony that would be plenty big enough for two.  There were three pools on the boat, a rock-climbing wall, a surf simulator, bumper cars, and tons (I mean tons) of lounge chairs looking out over the ocean, which was totally more my speed.  #CruiseLife

The nighttime activities to me were the best part, and lucky for me, Kathleen was paying attention to the daily itinerary that I somehow failed to read every day.  Our first night was spent at Groovy Town, a 70s-themed dance party where a few cruise-happy party goers really got the week started.  (Lady with several light-up rings in your mouth, I’m looking at you.)  The rest of the week included a Journey cover band (that was seriously dead-on), a rap music dance party or two, and my personal favorite, the silent dance party.  Have you guys heard of this genius concept?  Everyone in the room has their own headphones with two different stations that are controlled by two different DJ’s in the room.  You can switch channels as you please and, based on the colored lights on your headphones, see who else in the room is jamming out to the same tunes.  The best part though is when you remove your headphones and see a room full of grown adults dancing like wild animals to silence.  So golden.  When I’m having a rough day, I’ll always try and remember the sweet little lady belting out Adele like an American Idol audition.  You do you, boo.  Overall, it was an amazing five days thanks to Royal Caribbean, and I totally could have cruised on for, like, a couple more weeks at least.  (I think.)  And if there’s a little cruise life coming up in your future, here are a couple of tips from this newbie cruise lover:

  1. Get the beverage package.  It’s totally worth it, and not just for the booze.  (Although let’s be honest, wine time is anytime when you’re cruising in the middle of nowhere.)  With the top beverage package, you can get specialty coffees, smoothies and green juices, and any soda your heart desires.
  2. Be prepared ahead of time for a little motion sickness.  Luckily I was unaffected by the movement of the boat (and actually thought that it rocked me to sleep perfectly at night), but other members of our group weren’t so lucky.  Plan ahead with preventative meds like the behind-the-ear patches that are available with a prescription.
  3. Pay attention to the daily itinerary.  Thankfully Kathleen did, so she let us know about the karaoke night that we loved and the silent dance party.  These are nights you definitely don’t want to miss.
  4. Make some friends!  One day when everyone else in my group had emails and work to catch up on, I played hooky and roamed downstairs by myself for a bit.  I totally met a friend (hey, Mona!) and then got to give input on a New Jersey couple playfully arguing over who was more “tanked” the night before.  (For the record, one of them “fell up the stairs.”)
  5. Have a little fun with it!  Sure, a 70s dance party may not be your thing, and Journey might not be your favorite band.  But if you go in with an open mind and let loose a little, your trip will be worth it times 1,000.  Promise!

Happy Friday, friends!  Who’s ready for the weekend?  I’m not gonna lie, I’m way excited.  Today I’m headed off to the East Coast, and tomorrow morning I’ll be hopping on a Royal Caribbean cruise to BERMUDAAA!  I’m super excited because (a) I’ve never been on a cruise before so why not start with Bermuda and (b) I’m cruising with a few of my favorite gals: Kathleen, Jenn, Krystal, and Courtney.  Sometimes I don’t know how I got so lucky in this life, but I’m thankful as all get-out and feeling like the luckiest duck around.  So if you’re following along on Instagram (and I hope you are!), then stay tuned for a few snaps from the high seas.  (And full disclosure, I have no idea what the high seas are, it just sounded right.)  Also, I’m rounding up a few photos from Instagram lately and linking the details exactly above.  Because when it comes to making it easy to shop the look, I’m here for you, girl.  Happy, Happy, Happiest weekend, y’all!

Since moving to Newport Beach a few years ago, my collection of swimsuits and coverups has admittedly gotten a little out of hand, but I like to think that’s just because there are so many good ones out there these days.  Over the past year, I focused my attention on white suits and caftans because, well, it just seemed like the bridal thing to do at first and then it became a full-on obsession.  If you love a good white beach look like me, brace yourself.  Everything But Water has just launched the ultimate capsule collection full of “White Delights” and it is SO GOOD.  The collection includes bikinis, one-pieces and a few really great coverup options from some of Everything But Water’s best designers.  There’s no time like the present to snag your favorite and work on that tan because summer is just around the corner.

It’s that time of year again: New York Fashion Week is here, and I’m so excited to head to New York today for the fashion, friends, and feasting.  But before I take off to what’s sure to be a FREEZING (but fun) week, I’m recapping last weekend’s getaway with Eric to Palm Springs.  I’ll start by saying that we LOVE Palm Springs.  We usually make our way there every few months or so, and we’ve tried out a few different hotels.  This time we switched things up and stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Golf Resort, and we had a blast.  (Can you really go to Palm Springs and have a bad time?  Maybe in July when you’re, like, melting.)  The entire place just had a massive renovation, so it’s like staying in a brand new hotel.

We checked in on Friday and immediately headed down to the pool.  I mean, it was 80 degrees in February – don’t waste any time, just go to the pool!  The pool area was huge and luckily pretty quiet, a much welcomed contrast to some of the loud and overcrowded pool scenes around town.  Hey, I love a good pool party, but sometimes you just want a little lounge chair nap, #AMIRIGHT?  Our room was spacious and nice with a balcony that looked out over the pool, golf course, and mountains – perfect for a glass of wine before dinner.  Downtown Palm Springs was just a short drive or Uber ride away, so we headed there for dinner.

On Saturday we ordered room service breakfast which is pretty much my favorite reason to ever stay in a hotel.  Breakfast in bed in my robe?  Yes, please.  A facial at the spa kicked off my day, and another relaxing afternoon by the pool and a walk around the grounds finished it off.  We left on Sunday wishing we didn’t have to get back for that pesky Super Bowl, or maybe that was just me.  Overall though, it was an amazing weekend getting some much-needed quiet time in the desert, and we can’t thank the DoubleTree enough for such a great pool and spa, friendly staff, huge grounds to wander, and amazing views.

Cabo Arriving in Cabo with Kathleen – Dress (c/o) Shop Bella CSandalsBarrington Gifts weekenders (c/o);  Hat
If you’ve been following along on Instagram (and I hope you have since that last computer of mine craaaashed, into a ditch…), I may have filled your feed with just a few too many photos from a recent trip to Cabo.  But hey, I just couldn’t help myself!  Kathleen, Jenn, Krystal, Taylor and I had the amazing opportunity to head down to Cabo for a week with Shop Bella C and stay in their beyond beautiful Casa Verde home in Pedregal.  (Casa Verde is a private home, but for those interested, there is a Resort at Pedregal that you should look into.)  At first I was a little nervous with the trip falling so close to New York Fashion Week (ahhh, so much to do, so little time…), but once we arrived, I knew that it would be the perfect relaxing week before the NY storm.

CaboFor starters, the house had a serious view:  two pools and ocean as far as the eye could see. – Shop Bella C kimono (c/o)

Before leaving for the trip we knew we wanted to check out Flora Farms, so we decided to go there for one of our first dinners.  We enjoyed delicious cocktails and a tour of the farm before dinner, but more on that in a later post.  You’ll quickly notice a theme here though: we tried LOTS of food!

IMG_7358Lunch at Hacienda Resort – so beautiful, and yum!IMG_7809Happy hour at a beach-side swing bar IMG_7385Becca swimsuit and coverup (c/o);  Shop Bella C Hat (c/o)

The last time I visited Cabo I checked out the Hacienda Resort and Beach Club and fell in love with the view…and maybe the margaritas too 🙂  So on Sunday we headed there for lunch before taking a short, glass-bottomed boat tour.  Afterwards we spent a lazy afternoon in the ocean and swinging away at a local swing bar.

Cabo, boat tour, Blue Sky CaboCoolchange Tunic Cabo boat tour Monday evening we took a sunset cruise with Blue Sky Cabo, and it was probably the coolest thing we did on the trip.  The water and the sunset views were SO beautiful, and the staff was amazing.  (Plus our lack of “sea legs” made for some pretty interesting dance moves that you may have seen on Snapchat.  If you missed those dance moves, well, it’s probably for the best.)  If you’re headed to Cabo anytime soon, I’d definitely recommend a sunset trip with Blue Sky Cabo.

We pretty much spent most of our time hanging out together at Casa Verde because besides the few places that we really wanted to visit, there just wasn’t much reason to leave.  (The house was seriously paradise.)  It was the end of August, but I was pretty determined to finally get a little summer tan going.  I think I kind of succeeded.  Kind of.

IMG_7561Most amazing lunch at Bar Esquina at the Bahia HotelIMG_7621Adrianna Papell dress (c/o);  ClutchWedgesBangles

On our last day we decided it was time to pull ourselves off of the pool floats and head back into town for one last lunch.  Thanks to everyone’s Instagram recommendations we had tried Bar Esquina at the Bahia Hotel for dinner one night and loved it so much we went back for lunch.  We were treated to the most amazing food and cocktail tasting there, from fresh ceviche to salads and pizzas, and had the best service.  For dinner (I warned you earlier, LOTS of food!), we headed to Bar Esquina’s sister restaurant Templo.  We were once again treated to a full dinner and cocktail tasting, from quinoa with octopus, to beef cheek tacos, to steaks.  (It was definitely a little adventurous for me!)  The staff at Templo is incredible, and the food was a welcomed break from the norm in Cabo.  I left in a seriously happy food coma, and I’d say it’s a must if you’re looking for something different while visiting the area.

IMG_7644Honeydew Intimates sweats (c/o) – on serious sale

By the last day I was beginning to think that we could just stay at Casa Verde forever, but as they say, all good things must come to an end.  (Although Kathleen and I managed to keep the vacation alive for one more day with an extended layover and cancelled flight in Phoenix.  Cue the endless Snapchat snaps while searching for that damn Embassy Suites shuttle…)  We did eventually find our way home, and looking back at these photos I still can’t believe how fortunate I am to be able to take trips like this with girls that I genuinely love.  So very grateful to Shop Bella C for sending us off on this adventure and thankful to you guys, the readers, who are always there with social media restaurant recommendations, Snapchat encouragement (all the LOLZ), and the kindest words.  Hope everyone’s September is off to a great start!
