Remember those Sofft wedges that I wore all day, everyday, all summer long?  (I really couldn’t help myself.  They go with EVERYTHING and are just so comfortable.)  Well folks, it’s a new season, and I’ve got a new Sofft obsession of the moment.  And since it’s September, I’m of course talking about booties.  Although I pretty much wear booties all year long, fall is when I really kick my bootie-loving rear into overdrive, and these are comfy with a capital C.  And with a million cute black ankle boot options out there these days, why not go with the cute pair that puts an airy little pep in your step?  Let’s breeze into fall, people.  (Plus, stay tuned on Instagram to see these little booties in NYC action this week.  I’m off in the morning!)

In keeping with this week’s apparent theme of little white dresses, today’s look is a definite boho twist on the wardrobe staple.  This dress was a little pre-wedding gift from my mom (she’s sending one every month until our wedding because she’s rad like that), and it’s perfect for these last few weeks (or months in Southern California) of summer.  Transitioning to fall, it’ll be just as good with little suede booties.  Right now it’s packed up and on its way with me to Cabo, where I’ll be spending a few days with three of my best blogger buds.  So get ready for an Instagram overload (follow along here!), and who knows, I may even figure out this whole Snapchat thing.  Happy weekend everyone!

Happy almost Friday, everyone.  Today’s post is a little throwback to my 4th of July outfit from last weekend, and I’m pretty much obsessed with this little tasseled dress.  It’s the softest fabric ever and will set you back about 15 bucks.  Did I mention it’s tasseled?  It’s a good one.  Today I’m off to check out a service from Unbooked Appointments, a great new website that’s all about finding you the best deals on beauty, hair treatments, massages, workouts, and tons more.  But more on that next week.  Today also starts the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for all Nordstrom card holders.  (If you’re not a card holder, you can still take a peek here.)  It’s the best, best, best sale of the year, so I’ll be bringing you all my favorite must-shop picks over the next couple of weeks.  Stay tuned!

Red, White, and Blues

As much as I’d like to pretend, I’ve never been that “jeans and t-shirt” kind of girl.  Blame the fashion lover in me or blame the 1,000 degree Louisiana summers accompanied by school uniform falls and springs that I grew up with, but I just never fell into that cool girl category.  Fast forward a few years (and a few states), and jeans are a pretty regular staple for me.  Even in the summers in Southern California, the hottest of days will inevitably be followed by a chilly and sometimes windy night by the beach.  It takes a few outfit changes a day. (Something Eric finds ridiculous, but he’s a boy.  He doesn’t understand.  “Get a jacket,” he says.  A jacket doesn’t go with this outfit.  But anyway…)  I bought these chambray jeans a few years ago (a total steal at Marshall’s), and they’ve been a favorite ever since.  They’re lightweight enough for warm days and easily pair with an oversized sweater for evenings.  And recently, I totally broke my “cheap girl” rule and got one of those expensive tanks or tees that everyone talks about.  (Mine above is Current/Elliott.)  A luxury, yes, but ya’ll – I’m obsessed.  It’s super soft and slightly sheer, but not annoyingly so, ya know?  Maybe that’s me.  Paired with my favorite jeans, I’m in love, and (whaaaat?!) I may just be that jeans and tee girl after all.

Kimono Love

There’s probably only one spring staple that I love more than rompers and matching sets, and that, my friends, is the kimono.  It’s the perfect addition to almost anything, from jeans to jumpsuits and swimsuits, and in the world of kimonos, Flynn Skye is pretty tops.  (What can I say?  I’m playing favorites.)  I first came across the brand when working with the fabulous ladies of OC Style Report, and I was immediately obsessed.  The blue and white print is the perfect complement to the denim romper above and was quite the statement in the windstorm-like conditions this day.  And perhaps it helps distract from that supermodel (and blogger friend Jen) that I’m with?  Probably not though 🙂

Nothing screams summer like an airy white blouse, and I must admit that I’ve accumulated quite the collection.  This little embroidered blouse from Heaven & Helfyre is my latest obsession, and I may or may not have worn it for two straight days last week.  Don’t judge me, it’s fine.  Paired with easy crochet shorts and the wedges I rarely take off these days, it’s pretty much hot weather perfection.  Here’s hoping your week is off to a great start!

P.S. – Check out Heaven & Helfyre for a ton of other great summer staples.

Like A Romper, But Better

By now you’ve probably noticed that I’m a pretty big fan of matching sets.  It’s just one of those trends that’s so easy, and when the matching set is about $50 for the whole shebang, it’s a serious no-brainer.  While I’m a fan of the matchy look, I love that you can separate the pieces to create totally different looks from your wardrobe.  It’s like a romper, but better.  (Especially when you have to go to the restroom.)  This set I scooped up between rounds of fish tacos and champagne at the brand new Nordstrom Rack opening in Laguna Niguel.  (Seriously.  I really can’t hate on a store opening that gives the people what they want.  And the people want fish tacos and champs.  But back to the clothing…)  It’s lightweight enough for the summer months ahead, but for now, my go-to denim jacket that you’re probably tired of seeing is the perfect companion.  Have you guys tested out the matchy-matchy look for yourselves?

A couple of weeks ago I finally got to check out the canals in Venice Beach, and I can’t believe I never made it there sooner.  Not that it’s some huge attraction to see, but I lived in LA for five years and pretty much never knew this area existed.  (What the?)  It’s such a cute little section of Venice, and I so enjoyed taking a stroll around in my favorite onesie pajamas jumpsuit.  This knit jumper is just about as soft as it gets without being actual pajamas, and by pairing it with a breezy kimono and my new favorite cushion-y wedges (seriously, so comfortable), I was pretty much in PJ heaven.  Comfy?  You betcha.  Just rolled out of bed?  I think not.

Floral Pants: Day to Night

Hey, hey, gals!  Today I’m teaming up with Kohl’s to bring you a little taste of (what else) florals for spring.  Now I know what you’re thinking.  “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.”  But hold the phone.  Can you think of a more significant, fun, or just all around pretty print for spring?  I think not.  So say hello to your inner flower child and just go with me here.

With spring’s nicer weather and longer days, it seems like the weekday events, dinners, and after-work drinks with friends and colleagues kick into full swing.  While I’m not complaining (Hi, happy hour!), it does help to have a few wardrobe staples lined up that easily transition from day to night, and tapered floral pants can easily do the trick.  I picked these up recently at Kohl’s and was surprised by how versatile they are.  For day, pair them with a lightweight blouse, denim jacket, and sandals or wedges (these are SO comfortable for all day wear), and once the sun goes down, switch to heels, an embellished tank, and leather jacket.  So while you may have a few floral pieces in your current repertoire, if you don’t have a great pair of floral pants, get on it, girl!  Happy shopping, and here’s hoping everyone is having a great week.

If you’ve been following along here for the past few months or over on Instagram, you probably know that I’m currently in New Orleans for my wedding week!  It’s been a long time coming, and I can’t believe the big day is almost here.  While planning for our wedding, I spent SO much time finding the dress, the shoes, the accessories, the little things that I wanted to make our day so special.  So when it came time for packing, I was a little overwhelmed to say the least.  There were so many things I needed to remember to pack!  And then it came to planning outfits for the rest of our trip, I went for easy dresses and caftans, gladiator sandals, versatile handbags, and some of my favorite “athleisure” pieces for traveling.  And this new “Mrs.” weekender was the icing on the cake.  So today I’m sharing a few of the pieces that made it into my bag for our wedding trip to New Orleans.  Whether I forgot anything important or not?  I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
