For a big night out, there’s nothing better to me than heavy doses of black and gold.  A soft jersey dress with strategic ruching is figure-flattering and comfortable without looking sloppy, and a studded leather jacket will help up the glam factor.  Stack on statement gold jewelry (loving these beautiful and affordable pieces by Rose Pierre), and grab a low-key black clutch.  Finally, break up the monochromatic look with a standout heel in bold blue.  Who’s ready for Friday night?

Roadtrip

This weekend we took a little roadtrip up the coast from Newport Beach to San Francisco.  On the first day we had lunch in Santa Barbara, stopped for an impromptu roadside driving break in a tiny farm town and finally settled for the night at an oceanside inn in the beautiful and charming town of Cambria.  (If you ever have the chance, a night or two in Cambria is SO worth the drive, and dinner at the Sea Chest Oyster Bar and Seafood Restaurant is an absolute must.  We definitely plan on making the trip again in the future.)  A favorite Riller & Fount LBD and wedge sneakers were the perfect comfortable-meets-chic car companions for the drive.  All in all the weekend was amazing, but it is so nice to be home.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Being somewhat of a creature of habit, I’m constantly on the hunt for the perfect little black dress.  I came across this jersey tank version by Riller & Fount a few seasons ago, and to me, it is about as perfect as they come.  It pairs easily with just about every cardigan I own (including this semi-sheer blue cocoon from Urban Outfitters) but is perfectly capable of standing alone during the hot summer months.  These pictures were taken while heading to brunch on my last day in Kansas this past weekend.  Low-key booties (that have been in constant rotation lately), beaded bracelets, classic aviators, and this adorable wallet/clutch (which conveniently fits the contents of my wallet along with a lipgloss and my iPhone) completed the look for a laidback layered feel.
