Formerly the (self-professed) queen of little black dresses and currently a reformed, color-wearing convert, it’s been quite a while since I’ve found a little black dress that has me hopping back on the LBD party bus.  Until now.  And just go figure that it’s Riller & Fount, the brand that first fueled my obsession.  This one is gathered in front, giving it an updated high-low silhouette, and the fabric is just so yummy.  It’s perfect for day to night with sandals or strappy heels and even more perfect for the really (REALLY) hot days we’ve had here lately.  113 degrees, anyone?  I took these photos right before this heatwave hit, so…bomber jacket.  (Which I also love.)  I’m also pretty sure that these lace-up sandals could make any little black dress better.  Now if I could only fast-forward a couple of days to Friday, I’d really have it all figured out.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Anyone else needing a serious post-holiday fast slash detox today?  (Raises hand.  How much eggnog can one person actually even drink?  You don’t wanna know.)  You can find me at Juice Served Here from now until the new year just getting my juice on, trying to erase those holiday calorie sins.  I mean, gotta kick off the new year right, right?  Riiiight.  This week my mind is firmly on our New Year’s Eve plans which have yet to be decided.  Nothing like the last minute.  We will most likely be spending the holiday in the mountains and crossing our fingers for snow, but we’re still deciding for sure because that’s just the kind of people we are.  The last minute kind.  I do know one thing for sure though, if we were spending our New Year’s Eve any other way, I’d have my outfit picked out by now.  While this is still my top pick for a NYE dress, a perfectly draped maxi might be my close second.  This one by Riller & Fount (constantly a favorite brand of mine) is serious perfection and makes me (sort of) forget about all those holiday sweets I had.  It’s unfortunately sold out online, but I’m linking several similar styles below, just in case you actually do have plans made and need a little last-minute New Year’s Eve help.  Annnd in case you’re looking for a party dress that feels like your favorite pajamas because, well, why not?

The Best Leather Jacket

It goes without saying that I go through quite a lot of clothes around here.  Lots of it.  My laundry basked might tell you that I change clothes like five times a day which (mostly) isn’t true, but I’m still trying to get to the bottom of that mystery.  (Who the hell IS wearing all this clothes that I’m constantly washing around here?  Someone needs to pull herself together, just saying.)  But every once in a while, a piece comes along that is just so, SO good.  I’m talking about the best leather jacket from Parker, and I’m totally professing my love for it.  Y’all, it’s like straight butter, and I’m more than obsessed with the floral print that makes it stand out from the rest.  When I pulled this beauty from the box, I literally couldn’t stop smelling it.  (Don’t judge, you know that’s not that weird.)  So good.  And trust me – I totally KNOW that it’s an investment and a definite splurge, but if there’s one thing in your closet to splurge on, it’s a yummy leather (or faux leather) jacket.  Whether you go for this one (or RENT it for a fun holiday party here) or one of the other great picks that I’ve linked below, your closet needs a staple jacket that you can easily throw over daytime dresses, jeans, party frocks, skirts, you name it.  I’ve worn this one that’s under $100 and now available in four colors SO many times this fall – check it out here, here, and here.  And other than that, this Riller & Fount dress feels like you’re wearing pajamas in public, and I’m always about that life.

Happy Friday, friends!  Who’s ready for the weekend?  I’m not gonna lie, I’m way excited.  Today I’m headed off to the East Coast, and tomorrow morning I’ll be hopping on a Royal Caribbean cruise to BERMUDAAA!  I’m super excited because (a) I’ve never been on a cruise before so why not start with Bermuda and (b) I’m cruising with a few of my favorite gals: Kathleen, Jenn, Krystal, and Courtney.  Sometimes I don’t know how I got so lucky in this life, but I’m thankful as all get-out and feeling like the luckiest duck around.  So if you’re following along on Instagram (and I hope you are!), then stay tuned for a few snaps from the high seas.  (And full disclosure, I have no idea what the high seas are, it just sounded right.)  Also, I’m rounding up a few photos from Instagram lately and linking the details exactly above.  Because when it comes to making it easy to shop the look, I’m here for you, girl.  Happy, Happy, Happiest weekend, y’all!

Shoes, More Shoes

Riller & Fount dress;  Madden Girl heels (c/o) DSW;  H&M clutch and jewelry

Today’s look is a continuation of Monday’s DSW shoe love, and the second pair I’m styling is one that I know I’ll be wearing the crap out of.  I’ve got a few pairs of shoes, but a floral lace-up pair is just what I’ve been missing apparently.  With a Grecian-style wrap dress and killer jewels, they’re icing on the well-styled cake.  I already have plans for these with a favorite pair of black ripped skinnies and a white fitted tee.  Feel me?

I’m quickly running out of shoe storage space, but man, a couple of new pairs can really breathe new life into your closet.  And DSW makes it so easy to find the perfect pair.  After all, the shoes say it all.

Last week I met up with Kathleen for happy hour at one of my favorite spots in Newport Beach, The Cannery.  After much gabbing and a couple of cocktails, we snapped these photos right outside of the restaurant.  I had plans of wearing a cute little dress and heeled sandals all day, but I lost track of time and threw on these glorified sweats on my way out the door.  I love Riller & Fount’s ultra-soft knitwear, and this little t-shirt dress is no exception.  Since I walked the few blocks there, a plaid around the waist, wedge sneakers, and sassy shades helped finish off the look.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Dog Days

The “dog days of summer” may be technically over, but it’s still pretty scorching most days around here.  On those days the only thing that matters when getting dressed is beating the heat, and this look does it pretty well.  The oversized tunic from Riller & Fount is so lightweight and airy, and paired with these easy embroidered shorts, it’s a heat wave no-brainer.  Flat sandals and layered jewelry tie it all together.  Hope everyone has an amazing Labor Day weekend!

Although summer is in full effect here, it still gets pretty chilly by the beach once the sun goes down, so I live for easy cardigans that pair well with my summer wardrobe.  I love the fringe trim of this navy version from Margaret O’Leary, and it’s the perfect sundown topper for my favorite summer t-shirt dresses.  I couldn’t help myself from taking the turquoise / tan fringe / silver jewels road, and I’m loving the way the outfit moves.  How would you wear this fringed cardi this summer?

The Weekend Kickoff

Well kids, it’s Friday, and not just any old Friday.  It’s the Friday before a three-day weekend, and I couldn’t be happier about it.  Cue the comfy-as-pajamas t-shirt dress and far played-out Zara necklace.  (Listen, after over four years together, I’ve misplaced my favorite gold watch, and I’m a little out of sorts about it.  I’ve become attached with a certain embroidered collar, and I’m not taking it off.)  Anyways, I’m pretty excited about some kick-ass plans this weekend, including a little wine-tasting and wedding-going, and I hope you’re stoked about your own long weekend.  How will you be spending the next three glorious days?

For me, spring just wouldn’t be spring without a well-stocked supply of comfy, cozy, so soft you could sleep in them t-shirt dresses.  In luxe jersey fabrics, a good t-shirt dress so easily makes the transition from beach coverup to the perfect daytime mini and beyond.  While my favorites are definitely from Riller & Fount, I’m loving this simple pocketed version above paired with strappy gladiator sandals.  Add interest with a paradise-printed clutch, marbled sunnies and an ultra-soft scarf, and finish the look with classic silver jewels.
