My 2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

Barefoot Dreams cardigan | My Style Diaries blogger Nikki Prendergast Barefoot Dreams cardigansimilar Ugg slippers (also LOVE these);  Quay sunglassesOld Navy tee

Well, friends, it’s here again.  The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is back, and if you follow a few bloggers, I’m sure you’ve seen it mentioned a time or two.  (It’s only open to certain cardholders now and will be open to everyone on the 19th.)  Full disclosure – the sale is nowhere near as good as it’s been in the past, in my opinion.  The selection is pretty tiny compared to previous years, but hey, that’s 2020, right?  That said, I do think there are still some items that are worth it.  Scroll down to see a roundup of things I’m digging, the ones I’m buying, and the pieces I already own and love.

What I’m Buying:

Barefoot Dreams – Call me basic, but I’m literally here for any and all things Barefoot Dreams.  I don’t care, I just love this fabric.  I bought the circle cardigan above last year and have worn it a ton – it stays parked on my desk chair so that I can always throw it on.  This year I’m thinking I’ll grab the long cardigan (but what color?), one of these blankets (as if we need another blanket…), and don’t judge me, my dogs are totally getting this Barefoot Dreams dog bed.

This plaid shirt jacket – I saw this online and thought it was pretty cute, but after trying it on in the store, I’m sold.  Y’all, this thing is so cute, I might snag both colors.  I love that it’s a super soft flannel that can be worn as a shirt or jacket, and it has pockets.  It’s meant to be oversized, but I’d recommend sizing down – I’m wearing a medium here for reference.

Adidas sneakers – If there’s one thing I’ve been doing during this wild Covid year, it’s 100% been getting my steps in so I feel zero guilt about buying a new pair of sneaks.  I’ve heard really good things about this UltraBoost pair, but how cute is this printed pair?  Decisions.

This basic tee – I pretty much live in solid tees, and this one is so good.  I checked it out in store, and I think it’s the softest in the sale.

The things I own and love:

My favorite PJ’s – I currently own these PJ’s in two colors and will most likely be grabbing a third this year.  I actually prefer them to the Eberjey version because the fit is a bit looser, and they hold up better wash after wash.

Spanx leggings – There’s a reason everyone raves about these leggings – they are just SO good.  I love the high rise, and they suck everything in.  I have a few pairs of these and wear them nonstop in the cooler temps.  Pair them with sneakers, boots, booties, or flats.

Barefoot Dreams cardigan – You can see my ode to BD above, but legit, I love this cardigan.

PMD – I own both the Personal Microderm and the PMD Clean and love them both.  (In my opinion, the Clean is a way better buy than a Clarisonic as you don’t have to worry about bacteria build-up in the brush head.)  They’ve especially come in handy recently with my battle against the mask acne, ugh.  The discount on these is pretty substantial, so if you’ve been thinking about it, now’s the time to order.

Gorjana Crescent Necklace – This is just such a pretty statement piece that I’ve had for years, and at under $50, it could make a great gift for someone in your life.

Brixton hat – I’ve owned, loved, and traveled with this hat for years, and it still looks brand new.  The quality is so good, and I’m thinking maybe I need to snag this one while it’s still in stock.

Ugg slippers – While I don’t own this exact pair of Ugg slippers, I do own another pair (above) and have spent many, many days in them over the last few months.  I REALLY want to buy this pair, but I’m just not sure I can justify another pair of slippers.  (Although I’m pretty sure I would not regret it.)

It’s been a few days since the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale launched for cardholders, and surprisingly, there are still some great pieces in stock to snag.  Last week I rounded up some of my favorite first picks from the sale, and today I’m sharing some of the pieces I tried, bought, and am currently loving.

In particular, these jeans are so GOOD – the perfect high rise, a fit that hugs curves, an easy everyday wash, and super comfortable denim.  They’re true to size – I snagged a 4 for reference.  I’m also super jazzed about this cozy cardigan and this super soft loungewear set for an upcoming trip that will include chilly evenings.

I’ve also ordered these Tory Burch slides which have since sold out (hopefully those get a restock before the sale is open to everyone) and am constantly checking for my size to be restocked in these Ugg slippers.  (Since a certain rambunctious puppy ate my last pair of slippers…)  Overall I didn’t buy too many things from the sale, but I am pretty pleased with the cozy things I did get.  Have you guys shopped the sale?

Happy Friday, friends!  If you haven’t heard from the 17,486,900 other bloggers out on the interwebs, the Nordstrom Anniversary sale hits this week.  Big card holders have been shopping for a couple of days, but today at 9:30 PST the sale hits for all card holders.  (Including me – and side note, I don’t have a Nordstrom credit card, I have the Nordstrom debit card so it’s the same as shopping with my own debit card.)

Anywho, it’s one of my favorite sales of the year because it’s brand new stuff on sale, things that are just hitting the site.  Full disclosure, I feel like in previous years I’ve overdone this sale big time – BIG TIME.  And this year I promise not to.  But, I’ve combed and combed and found some things that I feel are totally worth shopping.  I wanted to narrow it down to 25, but here we are at 50.

This year, there are a few things I’ll be zeroing in on:

Activewear – Let’s face it, I pretty much live in activewear these days, from the gym to the grocery story to the dog walk, and the Anniversary Sale always has some great finds.

A new bra from Chantelle – If you’re busty, this brand is awesome.  I’ve had their bras for years, and they’re both supportive and pretty.  There are a couple of good ones included in this year’s sale.

Anything Madewell – It’s one of my favorite brands of the moment, and there are some great pieces in the sale.  Last year I found the prettiest Madewell dress in the sale, and I’m OBSESSED with their denim.

Wear right now dresses – In years past, I tried to stock up on fall finds because there are just so many great boots, sweaters, and jackets, but fall in Southern California is still pretty hot.  So this year I’m focusing on things I can wear right now and not have to store away for months.

Something Barefoot Dreams – It’s always one of the most popular brands in the sale, and this year, I’m snagging something in their cozy, delicious fabric.  We have a trip to Idaho coming up in the next couple of weeks, and I’m thinking this cardigan or this wrap would be perfect for the flight and chilly nights there.  (Or perhaps I need both?)

So I’m headed to the store today to see what I can snag, but if online is more your jam, feel free to scroll below for the pieces that I think are totally worth it.  And if you find something I’ve missed, let me know, girl!  It’s like Black Friday shopping without the turkey hangover, so let’s do this, shall we?

Favorite Activewear in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

If you haven’t seen me whining like a baby over on Instagram this week, y’all, it’s been hot.  Hot sleeps have been driving your girl nuts!  (As a little background, I know that I grew up in Louisiana, but houses in Huntington Beach for the most part have no air conditioning.  So, hot sleeps.)

So I’ll take any excuse possible to get my butt out of the house, and luckily, that means workouts too.  I’ve been all about a little bike ride, long walk, “take in a little ocean” action, so when the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale hit a couple weeks back, I was like, gimme all the activewear.

The activewear section of the sale is definitely one of the most neglected, but hey, friends, don’t sleep on it!  It’s the stuff we all want but don’t want to spend full price on.  It’s the pieces we’re grabbing out of drawers ALL of the time…hopefully to work out in.  And me?  I was feeling like my workout drawer needed a little refresh.

Obviously, the sweatshirt above is not for right now, but it’ll come in super handy in the late fall.  (I love when I can leave a workout and throw on a dolman-sleeved topper.  Dolman, friends, because you know you don’t want anything touching your armpits.  Just me?)

But the shorts and this tank have been my LIFE right now.  They’re perfect for getting outside and avoiding that sweet, sweet capri legging tan.  (I mean, it’s just not my style.)  They’re both loose and comfy, and the sneakers are just as great.  So if the clothing, booties, and handbags aren’t really catching your eye, scroll on over to the activewear, and live your best life outside.  (And as a side note, this MZ Wallace bag is not on sale, but I’m obsessed with everything they make.  So there’s that.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

And today I’m sharing a couple more pieces from the sale because, well, I admittedly went for shopping day round 2.  #NoRegrets  This Rolling Stones tee is not part of the sale, but it’s still under $40 and I just couldn’t pass it up.  Paired with this sale skirt / sweater combo and the most comfy sock booties, it’s a summer to fall no-brainer.  (Just, you know, maybe lose the sweater during our current heatwave.  Just a thought.)

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: What I Bought…So Far

So who’s had a little luck with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this past week?  I can definitely say that I found some pieces I LOVE this year.  A few days ago I shared a bunch of my favorite picks from the sale, and today I’m dishing on the pieces that actually made it home with me.  Well, so far.  My main strategy this year was to focus on pieces that I could wear now rather than stocking up on sweaters and boots that will take months (and months and months) to make it out of my closet, and I’m happy to say there are a TON of pieces in the sale that are heat wave approved.

The little coral dress above may be a favorite find in the sale, but I’ll admit that I’ve probably got a few favorites.  This dress is SO lightweight and comfy, and I love the ruffle detail of the skirt.  It’s a color that I don’t wear often, but now I’m wondering why I don’t wear it more.  This one is under $100, and you can still snag it in all sizes.  Also, this bag is so good and currently over $75 off.

This Wayf dress is an updated version of one of their best-selling styles from last year, and I can see why it’s so popular.  It’s light and airy, easy to wear, and currently comes in two prints plus this pretty purple color.  Oh, and it’s under $50.  I’m thinking it’s pretty perfect for those upcoming summer weddings on everyone’s horizons.

OK, this dress, y’all – all the heart emojis.  I took this one to Boulder with me this past weekend for the Dead & Company show, and although it was definitely toasty out, this little floral number managed to keep me pretty cool.  It’s under $40, and I’m super tempted to snag it in a second color.  (And maybe another color in this bag?)

Every year in the sale I look for a great pair of jeans, and for me this year this pair is IT.  (Although I’ve heard there is a pair of Blank NYC jeans that I also need to hunt down and try.)  I’ve been a fan of Madewell jeans (and really, all things Madewell) since snagging this pair a few months ago.  Their high rise is actually high, and their denim gives without stretching out so you won’t be pulling them up all day.  (The sizing has been in and out of stock, but my guess is that these will be completely restocked when the sale goes live for everyone, not just card-holders, on the 20th.)

For me, these are a total win as well as the $15 tee, coziest cardigan for upcoming summer flights, and the leopard bag that will go with everything.

This dress is probably the piece that I searched for in my local store first.  I just LOVE the jewel tone color, the dramatic sleeves, and pretty pleats.  This one definitely runs a bit big, so make sure you size down.

I know I said my goal was to focus on pieces that I could wear now, but these booties were just too good to pass up.  They’re about to be my staple fall footwear with dresses, skirts, leather shorts, you name it and are actually the only pair of shoes that I bought in the sale so far.  (Although my plan is to scoop up a pair of sneakers today – I just can’t decide which ones!)

There are a couple more days to shop the Early Access sale, and then everything is open to the public from July 20th to August 5th.  (If you’re not a card-holder and getting a little worried that things are selling out quickly – they usually do a pretty big restock when the sale opens to everyone.)  Happy shopping, friends!

Fave Fashion Finds in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale | My Style Diaries blogger Nikki PrendergastIt’s that time of year again, friends – the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  The sale starts today for Nordstrom card-holders. (And if you don’t have a card, you can get a Nordstrom credit or debit card here or in-store.  The debit version works just like your own debit card.)  If you don’t have a Nordstrom card, you can shop the sale from July 20th to August 5th.

If you follow a few bloggers, I’m sure you’ll eventually have an annoyance level of 10+ with the sale posts coming your way, but promise, it’s for good reason.  (I’ve posted a ton in years past.)  Eric was asking me recently why this sale is such a big deal, and my answer is simple.  It’s all brand new, never hit the site before, late summer and fall goodies that are up for grabs at a total steal.  The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is where it’s at.

You’ll see sweaters, jeans, boots, and the cutest scarves you’ll want for fall and walk outside to the current heatwave wondering, what gives, lady?  Well, I’ve thought the same.  And you can wait.  I have.  And then I’ve kicked myself fully when I’m suddenly paying full price for that fall goodness.

But, if you’re like me and want to wear your new purchases, like, yesterday, then point your attention to the slew of brand new activewear, loungewear, swimsuits (yep! – beat that heat, girl.), and cuter than cute booties that’ll pair perfectly with that boho summer dress.

I’m rounding up some first look favorites below, shopping the sale myself, and dying to know – what are you loving in the sale right now?  With a bajillion options on the site, I’m sure I’ve missed some must-have deals.  And who wants to miss out on that?  Not me, girl.  Not me.  So grab a cup of coffee, click around, and live that best shopping life.

Best Neutral Booties in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Moon River dress (on sale!);  Booties (on sale);  Henri Bendel bag (c/o);  Quay sunglassesJulie Vos bracelets

If there’s just one thing you don’t want to miss out on during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (well, besides this pretty little dress), it’s the whole slew of neutral booties that you’re bound to wear to death this fall.  Think about it.  We all have that one pair every year that goes with just about everything – dresses, jeans, leggings, you name it.  (I wore the HECK out of this pair that I got during last year’s sale.)  So why wait and pay full price later?  Don’t be silly, girl.

I found this cute pair on my second round of shopping the sale (don’t judge me), and they are just about as comfy as can be.  I’m normally a size 9 but sized up a half size for these because I found them more comfortable.  (I’m also wearing them with some tiny little no-show socks because booties and bare feet just don’t mix in my head.)

While I’m loving this taupe pair, there are a ton of other styles below included in the sale that are definitely worth their weight in wearable gold.  So shippity-shop yourself over to the #nsale, and live that best bootie life, girl.  Happy almost Friday, friends!

Well friends and fam, it’s that time again.  It’s time for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and once again this year, I’ll be throwing a whole slew of my favorite deals your way.  So if you hate a good deal, just feel free to tune me out for the next couple of weeks.  I look forward to this sale every single year, and it’s seriously the best time to stock up on ALL of the fall things you know that you’ll want.  I know, I know – it may sound crazy to spring for those faux leather leggings right now considering it’s, well, July, but why wait and spend more for the same exact pair?  Once the sale is done, the prices go up, and you’re outta luck, Chuck.

Currently the sale is in the “Early Access” phase and only open to Nordstrom card-holders, but let me explain. I personally never ever apply for store credit cards as a personal rule and hate when you have to use a particular card for a sale, but Nordstrom does offer a store debit card. That means it’s hooked right up to your checking account like your normal debit card – purchases are pulled right from your account, and there’s no bill to pay at the end of the month. Not bad, right?  (If you need a card, head right over here.)

So today I’m rounding up a few standout favorites from my first glance at the sale, but believe me, there are so many more amazing finds.  Whether you’ve got your eye on handbags, booties, sneakers, denim, or anything in between (home goods, perhaps?), you don’t want to miss out on this once-a-year shebang.  Happy shopping, friends!

xoxo
