My Picks from the Huge MZ Wallace Sale

MZ Wallace on sale | My Style Diaries blogger Nikki Prendergast Well I promised to keep sharing some of my favorite sale finds around the interwebs during this crazy quarantine time, and this one just may be one of my favorites yet.  I’ve carried MZ Wallace bags for years (according to blog posts, alllll the way back to 2015), and they are still my very favorite brand for travel totes, duffles, and generally just go-everywhere bags.  I always thought they were pretty cute, but I never knew just how GOOD they were until I tried them out for myself.

My favorite feature is probably the comfy handles and straps.  No matter how much crap I cram into my MZ Wallace bags, they are always still comfortable to carry.  (It’s something that unfortunately can’t be said about a couple of designer totes that I also tend to travel with – here’s looking at you, Neverfull.)  They also come with a ton of interior pockets and removable pouches and can even be folded up completely into one of the pouches.  (So great to pack away in a suitcase in case you need to use while on a trip or on the way home.)  My most used is definitely the Large Metro Tote, but I also love my Large Sutton.

MZ Wallace bags are seriously just the best travel, gym, or weekend bags (pretty much the only ones I use for weekend trips to Palm Springs), and there’s a slew of them currently on major sale.  I haven’t seen prices like these from them maybe ever, and there are some really great bags included.  Although I probably don’t need another, I couldn’t resist ordering this one for the weekend trips when just one bag won’t do.  (Is one ever really enough?)  Scroll below for some of my favorite finds from the sale.  Happy almost weekend, guys!

And just like that, it’s Christmas Eve, y’all.  And I’ve got one thing to say about it: WILD.  The holidays always seem to fly by, but this year in particular, I’m over here scratching my head wondering where the last month has gone.  I’m sure it’s because, as I mentioned in my last post, I’ve spent lots of time traveling over the last month or so (and this year in general).

Warm weather trips, cold weather gear, dressy staples, casual exploring gear – I’ve packed and unpacked a few times this year, and I have to say, I’ve gotten pretty good at it.  I am ALL about our hard case luggage from Ricardo Beverly Hills.  It’s been tough enough to last through a ton of trips and fits SO. MUCH. STUFF.  (Because let’s be real, I’m not always the best at editing down the packing list.)

And when it comes to carry-on luggage or just a bag for short trips or errands around town, I seriously love everything MZ Wallace.  My friend Jenn introduced me to the brand years ago, and I’ve now got a few different styles.  The fabric is super durable, there are a ton of interior pockets and pouches, and the straps are so comfortable to carry all day long.

The latest bag I’m loving?  The Large Metro Tote is seriously so nice.  I love the larger size, the zipper closure at the top, and the sleek, easy design.  I used this tote on a recent trip home to Louisiana with Weeze and managed to fit a full-sized blanket, my computer, and ALL of the other puppy necessities with room to spare.  I put all my purse essentials in the Metro Pouch and used it as a clutch once we got to New Orleans.

If you’ve got travel planned for the new year and want to get organized, check out MZ Wallace to get your act together, girl.  Merry Christmas Eve, friends!

Cute and Comfy Spring Sweater Sets

Cute and comfy spring sweater set and Bottega Beak bag | My Style Diaries blogger Nikki PrendergastCute and comfy spring sweater set and Bottega Beak bag | My Style Diaries blogger Nikki Prendergast Target sweater and shortsDolce Vita sneakersBottega handbag

My love for a good matching set has been well documented over the last couple of years, and right now for spring I’m especially loving cute and comfy sweater sets.  I’ve worn these little sweater sets from Target for years (which are still available here and here), but recently I grabbed a couple of new sets in fresh spring colors.  I love that they can be worn together (like above) or separately with jeans or denim shorts (see below) to create quite a few outfits.  Plus, they’re as comfy as a favorite set of PJ’s.  Just add sneakers or sandals and you’re good to go.

Hope everyone has a great week ahead!

Happy Wednesday, friends!  This morning I realized that I blinked and February was just about gone.  Just like that, it’s almost March, and in my mind, almost spring.  Wardrobe-wise, I’m SO ready for ALL things spring.  Bring on the shorts, the dresses, the sandals, and everything else in between.  And for today, here’s a little photo dump of so many looks from the last few weeks because spring or not, my favorite sneakers, loungewear, and comfy denim are here to stay.

25+ Athleisure Pieces to Love from Walmart

Happy Friday, friends!  You guys, remember this little black leopard set that I shared on Instagram a few weeks ago?  It’s seriously the comfiest little cozy two-piece that looks so much like a more expensive set.  While you can still snag the sweatshirt here, the pants sold out SO fast.  BUM-MER.  I’ve heard from so many of you that you missed out on this set before the joggers sold out, so today I’m rounding up a slew of budget-friendly athleisure pieces from Walmart.

This Sweet Romeo line (the same as the leopard set above) has SO many great pieces, and the quality is really good.  I’m loving these star-printed joggers (on sale for $13!) paired with this star-printed dolman top.  Or this thumbhole pullover that looks seriously dreamy.  If budget-friendly loungewear is on your wishlist for fall, click through below for some of my favorite affordable finds.

25 Affordable Activewear Finds

Nike capris, similar sneakers, and fleece bomber (on sale!)Old Navy tee (LOVE these tees);  Quay sunglassesMZ Wallace toteSuja green juice

Ever take a stroll through an activewear section or store at the mall and think, when the hell did this stuff become so expensive?  Because when the new year kicked off, it was time to add a few new pieces to the old activewear drawer, and man did I have some sticker shock.  Now, don’t get me wrong.  I’m totally down for paying a little extra for quality pieces that will last me a few years, but am I supposed to be out here selling organs for a good pair of stretch pants?  No, girl.  No.

When it comes to activewear and athleisure, I’m all about shopping that sale section, so today I’m rounding up a few favorite finds that are on sale or are just a steal to begin with.  My go-to spots?  Old Navy (cannot get enough of these tees with activewear or with jeans), Fabletics (their member deals are great), Target, Nordstrom Rack, and the Athleta sale section.  What are some of your favorite places to find affordable workout gear?

My Favorite Amazon Purchase of January

And just like that, January is almost done.  And what do you guys think – did it fly by or crawl along?  I’m pretty torn on that one to be honest, and as I type this, it feels like New Year’s Eve was 100 years ago.  As I’m sure lots of you did, I made a few health goals wayyyy back here at the beginning of the month, and how are those working out, you ask?

Well the “drink enough water” thing is still a work in progress (go figure), but in the exercise department, I’m happy to say that I’ve been moving this month.  I’ve been a fan of pilates for years (check out my favorite local studio here), so I took a few classes at the beginning of January.  But when my package ran out and I went to purchase more, I started to think about ways to get in a quick workout at home before taking Weeze on our daily 3-mile walks.

A quick scroll around Amazon and I had these weighted medicine balls and this exercise ball delivered to my door in two days.  Of all the millions and squillions of things I’ve purchased on Amazon recently, these have by far been my favorite.  It’s something easy I can do while the dogs run wild, with the tv or music on in the background for distraction, without ever leaving home.  I’ve loved the weighted balls for both arm and core workouts, and they’ve been so key on the (usually rare) rainy days we’ve had around here lately – with four more coming at us this week.

I’ve found different exercises to do online but also just kind of mimic things that we do with weights in pilates classes.  And so far, so good.  Will I be going back to pilates or Orangetheory classes?  Definitely.  But now I can buy a few less classes and get in a quick workout whenever I can at home.  I’d say that’s a definite Amazon win for the month.  Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

Well, guys, it’s officially January 2nd and time to kick off some of those “new year, new me” goals.  Sure, the new year did start yesterday, but everyone knows that January 1st is for useless hours on the couch and takeout Chinese food.  Bonus points if you actually Postmated two meals yesterday.  Not that I’d know anything about that.

But today’s a new day, and it’s time to get yourself together, girl.  I’ve made a few fitness and overall just healthy goals for the new year and for going into spring in particular.  I’m not the kind of gal who wants to give up every sweet, snack, and splurge trying to attain some unrealistic goal weight.  I didn’t even do that before my own wedding and still have no regrets about it.  I did set a few goals to look and feel my best, healthiest self, though.

Exercise – I want to make sure and get in some type of workout five days a week, whether it’s a pilates or Orangetheory class or just taking the pups (well, solo pup until Wilma has all of her shots) for a long power walk.  It really is just about getting moving, and before the holidays, I was more than on top of this.

Eating – I generally cook pretty healthy, and we’ll have dinner at home 3-4 times a week.  For the other nights, we try to grab sushi or something with actual nutritional value and save the cheat meals for the weekends.  After a November and December filled with travel, parties, and holiday treats, I’m SO ready to get back to healthy eating and plan to share more meal and recipe ideas with you guys here and through Instagram stories.

Alcohol – Eric and I are hosting one last Christmas party with friends this weekend, and after that, we’re planning to have a dry January.  We haven’t done one before, but I think it’ll be great to reset, recharge, and save all those calories!

Water – Good God I say this every single year, but perhaps 2019 is the year I finally start drinking more water?  It’s seriously something I have to push myself to do, but when I do manage to drink enough water, I notice a difference in how I feel and how my skin looks.  (One might think that would be motivation enough, right?)  Well, with my current post-holiday breakout, it’s bottoms-up on the H2O currently.

And so this morning I woke up bright and early (to the sounds of a screaming puppy ready to make a jailbreak out of her crate) and scheduled my first pilates class of the new year.  I threw on my new workout gear (No better motivation really.  The husband got me these capris for Christmas and I’m OBSESSED.) and soon realized that my car battery was dead.  Sweet.

So I Ubered to my first workout of the year, popped into a nearby grocery store for a few vegetables for the fridge, and Ubered my butt home to these wild-ass pups.  No complaints over here, but perhaps the universe could cooperate when a girl’s just trying to make it to the gym?  Here’s hoping everyone has a great rest of the week.

If you haven’t seen me whining like a baby over on Instagram this week, y’all, it’s been hot.  Hot sleeps have been driving your girl nuts!  (As a little background, I know that I grew up in Louisiana, but houses in Huntington Beach for the most part have no air conditioning.  So, hot sleeps.)

So I’ll take any excuse possible to get my butt out of the house, and luckily, that means workouts too.  I’ve been all about a little bike ride, long walk, “take in a little ocean” action, so when the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale hit a couple weeks back, I was like, gimme all the activewear.

The activewear section of the sale is definitely one of the most neglected, but hey, friends, don’t sleep on it!  It’s the stuff we all want but don’t want to spend full price on.  It’s the pieces we’re grabbing out of drawers ALL of the time…hopefully to work out in.  And me?  I was feeling like my workout drawer needed a little refresh.

Obviously, the sweatshirt above is not for right now, but it’ll come in super handy in the late fall.  (I love when I can leave a workout and throw on a dolman-sleeved topper.  Dolman, friends, because you know you don’t want anything touching your armpits.  Just me?)

But the shorts and this tank have been my LIFE right now.  They’re perfect for getting outside and avoiding that sweet, sweet capri legging tan.  (I mean, it’s just not my style.)  They’re both loose and comfy, and the sneakers are just as great.  So if the clothing, booties, and handbags aren’t really catching your eye, scroll on over to the activewear, and live your best life outside.  (And as a side note, this MZ Wallace bag is not on sale, but I’m obsessed with everything they make.  So there’s that.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

New year, new me, y’all.  This is my year for working out, eating right, drinking way more water, and getting more sleep, yada yada.  But then you help throw a friend’s chicken and waffles birthday dinner on Friday night because his favorite food is fried chicken strips and adding in waffles only seemed natural and you obviously had to bake a Funfetti cake to top it all off.  Naturally.  Add in a couple of very rainy days spent on the couch, and this Monday is feeling a little extra sluggish.

Buuuut, I suppose there’s no better time to get back on track, so I’m kicking things off this Motivation Monday with a green juice and some of the cutest new activewear from lucy.  Nothing like some sweet new sweat duds to get my booty back in motion, and lucy is always my favorite.  This year I’m looking to add in a few new workouts (suggestions welcome!) as well as sticking with my normal routine of walking a couple of miles along the beach path – just as soon as this cuckoo rain lets up and stops flooding our construction site house and ruining the wood floors, but that’s a story for a different day.  For today, I’m just going with this little tidbit of advice and couldn’t help but passing it along:

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hope everyone has a great week ahead!
