True story, a couple of summers ago, Eric and I were hanging out on our patio in Newport Beach with a couple of friends when this guy rode by on a bike and yelled “Why aren’t you guys at the Lido Theater right now?  You’re missing it, man!”  Obviously we were pretty curious, decided to head over to the theater and found out they were live-streaming the last-ever Grateful Dead concert from Chicago.

I wasn’t much of a fan at the time, and although Eric knew a bunch of their songs he certainly was never really a Deadhead.  But we decided to stick around anyway because we didn’t have any plans and it seemed like a fun place to have a couple of cocktails.  We were definitely the youngest people in the theater, but y’all, it was so much fun.  While some people sat in their seats watching and listening, a ton of people were dancing in the aisles, singing along, reliving some past concert I’m sure.  I thought, is my generation going to do this someday to Backstreet Boys or something?  Probably not.

Anywho, it was a pretty cool experience, and so this little Grateful Dead tank is definitely a new favorite of mine.  And how great is it for festival season, which is officially upon us?  Add a pair of cut-offs and sandals for an easy-peasy, Coachella-approved look.  And while I’m not actually heading to Coachella this year (I’ve decided that maybe I’m too old for all that jazz?), I’m definitely down with dressing the part.  Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

Happy Friday, friends!  I’ve been checking out the pretty spring offerings here, there, and everywhere lately, and last week I headed into Banana Republic to take a little peek at what they had in store.  I was immediately drawn to so many of the fun and flowy spring dresses, especially this little white dress and this gorgeous maxi shirt dress, and decided to try on a little bit of everything.

And what do you know, of all of the things, guess what made it home with me?  Denim.  Still firmly on that denim-buying kick, and seeing no end in sight apparently.  While most of my denim purchases lately have been distressed, destructed styles, I love this clean black pair for a nice little change.  They fit like a glove and run true to size, and I love the high rise.  (I mean, I’m not 18 anymore, let’s be real – low rise is not really my jam these days.)

And what does a self-proclaimed denim lover pair with her new jeans?  More denim, kids.  But how adorable is this little peplum top?  Super cute and will be so good with white jeans as well.  And the icing on top?  This bell-sleeved jacket that is so versatile for spring.  Throw it on over jeans, with a dress, or with a pair of shorts.  It’s lightweight and easy to layer up, so you can wear it now and into the summer.  It’s a good one, y’all.

And here we are, my three favorite pieces.  Wear ’em all together, or mix and match them into your wardrobe.  Or head over here to the Banana Republic site and check out so many more amazing pieces for spring.  I mean, this little pleated dress?  Gimme that!

Hip, hip, hooray for the three-day weekend, y’all!  Although I’ll be honest, my brain switched into weekend mode somewhere around Thursday, so it’s really been about four days of freedom around here.  Today got off to a slow start, but I’m finally getting around to sharing this fun spring look with some of my favorite basics.  I first posted this cabi cardigan back here, and I love how it pairs so easily with dresses or jeans, dressed up or down.  These white jeans are from a few seasons back, but I recently tried on this similar style and this one and LOVE them both.  (They run a bit big, so size down.)  And finally, if you guys haven’t tried these wedges yet, get on it!  They are so comfortable, and for some reason I find them super flattering on my feet.  (If you’ve checked them out online, you’ll notice that some of the comments say that they rub the back of your ankles uncomfortably.  For me, that did happen with the right shoe, but I added in a pad to the shoe, and they’re a dream now.  Just an FYI!)  I’m linking two versions at two price points above.  Hope everyone is having a great President’s Day Weekend!

Still Loving: Teddy Jackets

Blame it on the fact that this SoCal “winter weather” just won’t quit or that my current everyday uniform consists of workout wear and sweats, but if there’s one trend from fall that I’m still loving, it’s anything resembling a teddy jacket.  And let’s be honest, I knew this one wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon for me.  Something cozy and soft and oversized and just so good?  Sign me up…times a few it seems.

I first scooped up my favorite ivory version in New York during the fall (seen here and here) and have worn that fuzzy little number more than I even care to admit.  It’s just…so fun.  I recently snagged this oversized version in green, and then a couple weeks later, wouldn’t you know the pink puff above somehow made her way into my closet?  I guess you could say things are getting a little out of hand, but I gotta say, I really don’t care.

If you haven’t tried out the trend (or just want to get a little out of hand with it like yours truly), I’m rounding up a few favorites below that are almost all under $100 with a bunch under $40.  Most of the versions that I’ve tried have run a little large, so I’d say it’s usually best to size down.  So scroll around and pick your fave – something’s gotta hold us over until spring, right?

Graphic Tees, Sneakers, and Jeans: My Fall Uniform

Last week I declared my love for sneakers this time of year, and today, well, I guess I’m further proving it.  I picked up these sneakers on major sale before a recent wine-tasting trip and have been wearing the heck out of them since.  They are so lightweight and breathable, super comfy, and the perfect match for my recent jeans and tee uniform.  (I know, I know – I said I would never be down the the camo trend, but I think after all these years, I’ve finally changed my mind.  And these, I couldn’t resist.)

I’m a sucker for a good graphic tee, but I’m especially loving the oversized, slightly longer fit of this Bowie one.  (It also comes in two other prints and colors.)  It’s perfect for a front-tuck with jeans and is also long enough for me to wear over my favorite faux leather leggings.  I’d say that’s a serious win for this creature of comfort.  Just add distressed denim and a teddy jacket – you can find some of my favorites here.

And now to tackle this extra Monday-ish Monday.  Eric and I got home last last night from a dreamy weekend trip to Tennessee, and I’m guessing it’s time to rejoin the real world.  Today will be a day of unpacking, laundry, and so many errands, but stay tuned for lots more Tennessee snaps and the reason we headed out to Knoxville in the first place.  Hope everyone has a great week ahead!

xoxo
