Happy New Year, my long lost friends!  Yes, I realize we are already halfway through January (WHAAAT?!) and that my last post was wayyy back at the beginning of December, but I can honestly say I have no regrets about it.  Well, that’s not true.  I do wish I had shared more snaps of our holiday home decor because it’s 100% my favorite time of year in our house, but other than that, I’m so glad that I spent the holidays being present and just celebrating my favorite time of year with family and friends.

Things have admittedly changed for me in the last couple of years in the blogosphere, and that’s OK.  I worked hard to build an authentic, genuine following here on the blog, and your support has meant and will continue to mean the world to me.  THANK YOU for following along all these years!  Over the years I’ve probably failed to keep up with some of the blogging trends out there – I NEVER got into Snapchat (still don’t get it), have zero interest in creating Youtube videos, am terrible at keeping up with Instagram stories, and, in general, was VERY late to the Instagram game.  And don’t even try to talk to me about TikTok – I have NO idea what that app is about.  Impeding, maybe, but I’m OK with that too because these just never felt very “me”.

These days, managing our Airbnb property takes up a good bit of my time, and when it comes to lots of events and travel, well, I really just love being at home with my husband and pups.  While I’ve continued to post on Instagram, the blog has been a bit neglected.  But now, the new year is here and it’s time I get back to sharing the things clouding up my headspace – fashion, home decor, and (obviously) the Amazon purchases I’m loving.  My 2020 goal is a handful of posts a month on only my favorite looks, finds, and random thoughts…and the dogs.  Obviously the dogs.

And so today, kicking off my 2020 posts with an outfit full of favorites.  I actually grabbed this dress in the orange color back in late November but decided to swap it once I saw the black color online.  It was on backorder but finally came in, and I LOVE it.  I love the fitted top, flowy skirt, sheer sleeves, and easy floral print.  It’s beyond comfortable, and I’m digging it with booties and a leather jacket now and sneakers and a denim jacket into spring.  Speaking of leather jackets, this favorite with gold hardware is currently on major sale and feels so much more expensive than it is.  Also, if you haven’t checked out these under $20 Amazon hats yet, you’re seriously missing out on a steal.

Happy 2020 and a BIG, FAT THANK YOU to all of you for following along!

xoxo

And just like that, you wake up one day and it’s December.  I can’t believe that Thanksgiving has already come and gone, but I can’t say I’m not excited for the weeks ahead.  The house is decorated (will be sharing our tree soon!), and I’m turning my attention to the holiday parties and all things sparkly.

We’ve got our first holiday party this weekend, and I’ve been scouring the internet for something fun to wear.  And the good news?  I’ve come across SO many holiday-ready picks that won’t break the bank.  (With a couple of splurge options thrown in.)  So if you’ve got holiday sparkle on the brain, click below to see some of my favorites right now.  Here’s hoping everyone has the best party season ahead!

Remember these wide leg pants that I first shared with you guys back in April?  I seriously love the exaggerated silhouette, the fun print, and the super comfy fit and have gotten so many compliments on them.  (Make sure you size down – I’m wearing a small for reference.) They were a favorite summertime statement, and today I’m styling them up for fall.

Heeled booties, a turtleneck tee, and my new favorite leather jacket easily take these pants into the next season.  This exact print is sadly sold out, but they’ve been restocked in six great color options.  I so love this orange pair styled with the chunky knit sweater – so pretty and cozy for fall.  And now I’m sitting here thinking…maybe I need a second color?

Sweater Dress Season

You guys, I hope and wish and pray that I’m not jinxing myself over here, but holy moly we’ve had some luck in the weather department lately.  Most days over the last couple of weeks have been so pleasant, and we’ve got highs of 70 and 72 degrees this week.  I’m currently counting my lucky stars, knocking on wood, and reuniting with some of my favorite fall trends.

Case in point?  Bring on sweater dress season.  As much as I used to love a good sweater dress, I really haven’t found many I loved in the past couple of years (besides maybe this one), and to be honest, I can’t even remember having much cold weather last year for them.  This season I’m thinking my luck has changed, and a recent little stroll through Nordstrom turned up these two that I love.  They’re both under $70, super soft, and run on the looser side.  I’m wearing a medium in both for reference and thinking I need to also snag the grey version of the dress above.

Pair them with over-the-knee boots, monochrome booties, or the knee boots that seem to be everywhere this season.  The pair above is SO comfortable, run true to size, and will go with so many looks this fall.  And I mean, can I get a little AMEN for comfy, UNDER-the-knee boots making a little comeback this year?  I’m not giving up my over-the-knee boots just yet, but I am certainly HERE for this trend.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Hard to believe this little girls’ trip was one whole week ago.  Last week, Jenn, Krystal, and I headed to Atlanta to spend a little QT with our girl Kathleen in her brand new Athens digs (seriously GORGEOUS digs) before her brand new BABY BOY arrives.  Lots of brand new things happening for all of us, but when the group gets together, some things just never change.  It was such a fun couple of days grubbing, shopping, and catching up with some of my favorite girls.

Athens was hot.  That steamy Southern hot that smacks you in the face, but you can’t stop us from pulling out the fall gear as soon as the calendar strikes October.  Number one on the list?  Y’all, I finally found a (faux) leather jacket with gold hardware that I’ve been hunting for…ever.  The fabric and hardware look so much nicer than the under $100 price tag would suggest, and although I admittedly only wore it for these photos, I can’t wait to pull it out so many times once the weather chills this year.

And as for the dress, I can’t say enough good things about it and the entire Scoop line in general.  Anybody remember Scoop NYC?  The iconic boutique slash tourist hot spot in New York City that had like fifteen locations?  It was on my NYC bucket list as soon as I heard Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen mention it in an interview a million years ago, but that’s neither here nor there.  Scoop shut down all of their locations in the 2000s, but lucky for us in 2019, they’ve just launched a killer new capsule collection with…wait for it…Walmart.  And it’s good.

I placed a large order as soon as I spied the collection, and while this dress is certainly one of my favorites, the sweaters that I tried are serious gold.  (I’d recommend sizing down in the sweaters – they run pretty big.)  And the booties, especially this pair of snake-print booties that are so on-trend this season.  The prints are great, the prices are amazing, and the shipping is free.  Need I say more?  Below I’m rounding up some of my favorite picks from Scoop.  Which ones are you digging?

It’s one of my favorite (FAVORITE) sites to shop, and it’s one of my favorite sales of the year.  Shopbop is having one of their Buy More, Save More sales with 20% off orders under $500 and 25% off orders over $500, and it’s the perfect time to stock up on so much fall goodness.  (If you think about it, that’s a similar percentage that lots of sites give on Black Friday, but this sale is just in time to kick off the new fall season.)  Use code STOCKUP19 site-wide on full-price and sale items.

So what am I grabbing from the sale?  For starters, I’ve got a real thing for anything Z Supply (especially this turtleneck dress), can never resist Madewell denim on sale, am currently on the hunt for a cute pair of Western style booties, and am totally grabbing this leopard calfhair crossbody.  If you’ve already got cold weather plans on the horizon, I seriously can’t recommend these faux fur Apparis coats more (LOVED mine for last year’s winter travels), and it’s the perfect time to grab everyone’s favorite Spanx leggings.  Scroll below for a few more of my favorite pieces to grab right now.  Happy shopping, friends.

Well, September arrived, and the much-anticipated heat wave that always follows was RIGHT on time.  It’s been a hot September so far, but this week, we were lucky enough to get a little break in the form of two overcast, not-so-hot days in a row.  Can I get a WOO. HOO.  I took full advantage by taking the pups on long beach walks both days.  (I never really walk them along the beach when it’s too hot because the boardwalk is a little too toasty for their paws.)  We went to an Angels baseball game on Monday night and I actually needed a (GASP!) jacket.  Glorious.

I also managed to finally try on (and shoot) a couple of fall pieces that have been waiting in my closet, and y’all, this dress.  I have no idea when we will actually get some cooler fall weather, but I do know that this dress will be in constant rotation when we do.  It’s seriously the softest thing, feels like the coziest pajamas, and when it comes to getting dressed this fall, there’s just nothing easier.  I’m calling it my five second fall uniform – throw on a pair of booties, grab a handbag, and GO – and can’t recommend this little under $75 dress more.

Here’s hoping everyone has a great rest of the week ahead and that these cooler temps somehow decide to stick around for just a bit longer.

It’s been a few days since the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale launched for cardholders, and surprisingly, there are still some great pieces in stock to snag.  Last week I rounded up some of my favorite first picks from the sale, and today I’m sharing some of the pieces I tried, bought, and am currently loving.

In particular, these jeans are so GOOD – the perfect high rise, a fit that hugs curves, an easy everyday wash, and super comfortable denim.  They’re true to size – I snagged a 4 for reference.  I’m also super jazzed about this cozy cardigan and this super soft loungewear set for an upcoming trip that will include chilly evenings.

I’ve also ordered these Tory Burch slides which have since sold out (hopefully those get a restock before the sale is open to everyone) and am constantly checking for my size to be restocked in these Ugg slippers.  (Since a certain rambunctious puppy ate my last pair of slippers…)  Overall I didn’t buy too many things from the sale, but I am pretty pleased with the cozy things I did get.  Have you guys shopped the sale?

If you’ve followed along for a few summers now, then you’ve probably noticed that jean shorts are my main jam when it comes to the warmer months.  Last year I wore the hell out of this AGOLDE pair (still available this year here), and currently, I’m all about this high rise pair from Good American.  Normally, I’m not into high rise shorts.  I LOVE high rise jeans exclusively, but for some reason, I like to wear my shorts a bit lower.  It’s probably because most companies don’t make them long enough for the tall girls, so a high rise equals a constant wedgie.  TMI, but it’s the truth.

A couple of weeks ago I came across this pair at Nordstrom and figured I’d give them a whirl.  I went up one size from my normal skinny jean size for a bit of a looser fit, and I love them.  The denim is super soft, the rise hits at just the right spot on my waist, and the legs are a bit roomier than most – all pluses in my book.  They’re admittedly a bit of a splurge, but I know I’ll be wearing these a ton all summer long with swimsuits, tees, or button-downs like this season after season favorite from Lilly Pulitzer.  (See it styled here, here, and here.)

And while we’re talking about favorites, how cute are these striped espadrilles from Marc Fisher?  If you’re feeling these then you’re in luck because early access to the Marc Fisher Friends & Family sale starts today.  Take 25% off with code MFSquad25.  Here’s hoping everyone has a great week ahead!
