Happy Tuesday, friends! In case you haven’t heard on social media (over and over again), the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale kicked off for card-holders this week. (I’ve never been one to have a store credit card, but I did get the Nordstrom debit card years ago to shop the sale – it connects straight to my own bank debit card.) I personally can’t shop the sale until Friday, but I figured I would put together some faves ahead of time for all the gals that can shop the sale right now.
The sale certainly has mixed reviews these days (as opposed to the all-out bonanza that it used to be in the blogger world), and while I don’t think I’ll be buying much, I do think there are some really great finds. Above are some of the things I own and love from years past, and below are some of the pieces I’m digging this year.
Up at the top of my list? I usually snag a new set of these PJ’s every year, am loving these ivory slides, eyeing this perfume set (I already use the Santal 33 scent), and although I do not need another sweater that I’ll never wear in Southern California, this one is just so pretty. There are a couple of dresses I’m loving below, and I think these pants could be so pretty (although I haven’t seen them in person). Turns out maybe I’ve got a few more things in my shopping cart than I thought I would, imagine that, ha!
If you’re shopping the sale, then here’s hoping your faves don’t sell out before you snag ’em!
And just like that, it’s almost MAY. It sounds so crazy to even say it, and between trips to Florida and Hawaii and some time spent in Palm Springs, it’s been a while since I checked in here. So, HI! What a difference a year makes, and I can honestly say I’ve never been so excited for spring and summer to arrive. We celebrated Eric’s birthday over the weekend with a BBQ and some pickleball in the street, and somehow it felt like summer was already here. (And after last year, it sort of feels like we earned it.)
So today, I’m celebrating summer days to come with a whole big roundup of warm weather dresses that I’m loving. 18 of them, to be exact, and over half of them are under $40. Seriously, the amount of cute and affordable little dresses I’m finding this year… it’s starting to get…expensive, ha! Scroll down below to shop – here’s hoping you find something that puts you in a summertime mood. Happy Tuesday, Friends!
By now I’m sure we’ve all heard what the Gen Z crowd thinks of our “uncool” skinny jeans. And while I surely don’t place much importance on what the Gen Z’ers think of my tried and true skinnies, I’ll admit that after a year of stretch pants and too many days at home I’m just not grabbing for them like I used to.
About a year ago I bought and fell in love with this pair of mom-ish jeans from Daze Denim, and I’ve been obsessed with the brand ever since. Something about this brand, y’all – I’ve loved almost every pair that I’ve tried, and the mom jeans above are just the latest fave. (I’m also obsessed with this pair that I recently found in a few sizes on major sale – under $32!)
The high rise somehow hits at just the right place for me every single time, and the denim itself is so comfy. And while I normally gravitate towards dark denim, I’m actually loving this light wash for spring. Pair them with a sweatshirt, a duster cardi, a spring sweater, or just a plain old tee – if you haven’t tried the “mom jean” trend yet, you may just be pleasantly surprised when you do.
When it comes to my wardrobe, I have to admit – when I love something, I love it hard. Gladiator sandals were in, I wore them to DEATH. Stretchy culottes of the 2000s? I had every color. Comfy, cozy loungewear and all the matching sets of 2020? You know I went all in, and I’m not ditching a single piece yet. (In fact I’m just doubling down and grabbing more sets and comfy basics for spring, #NoRegrets.)
And in addition to the loungewear love I’ve currently got a big ole thing for jumpsuits. (To be fair, I’ve kind of always got a thing for jumpsuits, but they’re currently in heavy rotation around here.) It started with the tailored, strong shoulder version above and pretty much took off from there. If you’re digging the look like I am, scroll around below for a few of my faves at a bunch of different price points, including two that are under $20.
Happy February, friends! Is that wild or what? I blinked and January was gone, but I did notice this week that the days seem to be getting a smidge longer, and I have to say, I am here for it. Maybe it’s because last spring was effectively cancelled by Covid, but I’ve never been so ready for the time change to happen. (Perhaps that’s why I’m pulling out the white jeans a tad early…)
Today I’m back with some of my recent fave finds from Amazon, and these might be some of my favorite ones yet. (Hello, Kindle Paperwhite.)
White skinny jeans that don’t suck – I could NOT tell you why I found myself perusing my arch nemesis – white denim, obviously – on the interwebs late at night last week, but somehow I found myself doing just that. I’ll go ahead and blame that dry January boredom and the fact that Amazon Prime gets me every time, but a few clicks later and I had three pairs headed to my doorstep. I don’t wanna talk about the other two pairs, but I was pretty shocked at how much I like the pair above. For under 50 bucks, I’m just as surprised as you are.
The tastiest cinnamon tea – Well since I mentioned dry January, I’ve got to let you guys know about the Bengal tea, a nice little nighttime replacement for that glass of wine. Eric and I have actually been big hot tea drinkers for a while, but this one is definitely our new favorite. My mother-in-law introduced us to this tea, and we were hooked from our first cup. So what’s a girl to do besides immediately ordering six boxes of it??
My Kindle Paperwhite – I’ve been an off and on reader for years now – a book here, a book there, three books back to back, and then a few months off – but after watching ALL the shows we could in 2020, I’ve been on a serious reading kick. I’m a hundred years late to the Kindle game, but a friend recently convinced me to get one, and I’m just so mad that I didn’t buy one sooner. I think my main concern was how reading on a Kindle might affect my eyes, but it’s 100% not the same as looking at a computer screen all day. I love how small and compact it is and especially love it for reading in bed at night. The screen is so crystal clear. Another bonus is that I don’t have to have a “next book” ready and on deck for when I finish one – I can just grab whatever I want to read next on the spot from the Amazon store. (A reader also just told me about the Overdrive App that allows you to use a library card to check out books to your Kindle – mind officially blown and will definitely be checking that out.). If you’ve been waiting to get one like me, now’s the perfect time because they’re currently on sale – $35 off.
Personalized nameplate necklace – I was HIGHLY skeptical when I ordered this necklace, but I was so pleasantly surprised when I received it. A custom, nameplate necklace that’s made of sterling silver and plated in 24k gold for under $20? It certainly sounds too good to be true. It feels a little lightweight for sure, but I’ve been wearing it a ton over the last three months and so far, so good. Can’t recommend this one enough for yourself or as a cute little gift for a gal in your life.
These super flattering joggers – I saw Beth from Seersucker + Saddles chatting up these joggers and decided to give them a try. I wasn’t sure about the fabric at first, but it actually grew on me really quickly. It’s sort of a silky, more workout material if that makes sense? I don’t know, just know that they’re super comfy and somehow very flattering – I put them on and felt instantly slimmer.
Affordable workout leggings – New year, new me, new workouts, right? Well for me, new workout goals and new workout gear go hand in hand, but I always get a little sticker shock when it comes to grabbing the new gear. Holy money bags, workout clothes can be SO expensive. While I do think some of the pricey pieces can be worth it (I gotta admit, I really freaking love these Alo leggings), I also am a sucker for a good deal. I’ve heard so many good things about these $25 Amazon leggings, and for the price, I have to say they really are great. I would probably pay much more for them – the fabric is really nice, and they stay put through workouts. I did order a return one of the lighter colors though because I found them to be pretty see-through, so I’d stick with black or the darker colors.
A pickleball net and paddle set – While we’re getting sporty and talking workout gear, let’s talk about our new favorite weekend game, pickleball. I feel like pickleball popped up everywhere during the shutdown and for good reason – it’s really fun. We had no idea how the game was even played, but we ordered the net and paddles, watched a Youtube video or two, and then used sidewalk chalk to draw out a court right in the street in front of our house. It’s basically like life-size table tennis, and it’s actually a pretty good workout. (This household admittedly had some very sore muscles the next morning.)
A couple new Carve Designs swimsuits – I couldn’t stop raving about this Carve Designs one piece swimsuit last year, so recently I grabbed it in a couple more prints. It’s honestly the most comfy swimsuit I own, and I love that it comes in both standard sizes and D-DD cup sizing. It comes in a ton of different prints, and if you click around the different prints and sizes, you can find some of them for a total steal. (Although even at full price, it’s not a bad deal.)
For the days when you want to wear sweats but feel the need to wear “real clothes” (hello, responsibilities), there’s just no beating an easy, comfy dress. With sneakers or booties (or sandals in the spring), I love the effortlessly polished vibe that a dress gives off over your everyday jeans and sneakers, and luckily here in SoCal, we can almost wear dresses all year long. Almost. So today I’m rounding up six super affordable, won’t break the bank styles that you can wear now and into spring.
Dry January is almost done and California is slowly reopening, so I’m thinking I’ll be making my way to a weekend brunch in one of these dresses REAL soon. Happy almost weekend, friends!
Heads up, friends – one of my favorite online boutiques is having a sitewide sale, and if you’re in need of a little wardrobe pick-me-up, I think you’re gonna want to take a scroll. Red Dress Boutique is one of those sites that I actually don’t shop all that often for some reason, but every time I do, I find a couple of things that I end of loving. The dark floral dress above is one of those pieces. Right now it’s under $45, and I really love how you can style it a thousand different ways. It’s so cute with booties, sneakers, or sandals, and I also paired it with tall boots and a leather jacket over the holidays. The tunic sweater above is another favorite that I think I’ll be grabbing in a second color.
Whatever you’re in the mood for, Red Dress has a ton of cute things right now. From dresses to sweaters, loungewear to sneakers, and the cutest selection of hats, there are so many good finds at some really good prices. Use code “Bright20” to take 20% off your entire purchase. January 2021 has been the longest year ever, right? So go ahead – treat yo’self.
As I’m sure you’ve seen around the blogosphere and interwebs in general, there have been a TON of sales this week. I took a pass on Prime Day earlier this week, but there are a couple of sales that are still worth shopping. The Marc Fisher friends & family sale is still going strong, Old Navy has a bunch of deals to grab, and there’s still a little time to shop my favorite, the Shopbop Fall Sale.
Sale selections are always hit or miss, but Shopbop sales are always my favorite because they include new merchandise as well as things that are already on sale. It’s a “buy more, save more” sale, so the more you spend, the bigger the sale percentage. It’s the perfect time to grab that jacket you’ve had your eye on, a new pair of fall jeans, the earrings you can’t stop thinking about. Whatever IT is, there’s no time like the present to grab IT. I scored the Misa dress above during a previous sale, and it’s still one of my favorite dresses I own.
So today I’m rounding up some favorites that are still available. Just enter code FALL20 at checkout to save up to 25%, but hurry – sale ends tomorrow, 10/16 at 11:59 pm.
Scoop’s latest collection to drop might just be my favorite so far, so today I’m rounding up a bunch of fall pieces that I snagged. You seriously can’t go wrong with the sweaters, and a few of the dresses remind me so much of Free People styles for less than half the FP price tag. (I mean, how much does the snake print dress below remind you of this Free People dress that I wore last season? I actually prefer the Scoop version though because it’s lined and has a better length.)
Now that I’ve got half of my fall wardrobe figured out, I’ll just be over here waiting for the weather to wear it. Hope everyone has a great rest of their week!
Happy Thursday, friends! Crazy times we’re living these days. The quarantine crazies are slowly setting in around here, and with all the current online sales, I just can’t stop wardrobe and home decor tinkering. Now before anyone comes at me for promoting sales and shopping at a time when SO many of our friends and family are hurting, I wanted to share my point of view.
Right now the retail industry is hurting. And while that industry includes retail giants who will likely bounce back (mostly) unscathed, it also consists of so many small businesses, designers, guys and gals who just love fashion like myself. The fashion industry has always supported me, from my college retail jobs to working with brands in public relations to this blog that’s been my own small business since 2011. And so, while I’m staying home spending LOTS of time with my laptop, I’m gonna support the fashion industry right back.
So today I’m rounding up some favorites from the Joie Friends & Family sale (30% off sitewide including sale items with code JOIEFRIENDS) as well as a few other sales worth shopping below. If you’re shopping right now, I invite you to take a scroll. (And if not, then no worries!) Also, if you know of any retailers, big or small, that should be added here, feel free to send them my way! Hope everyone is staying safe and taking time each day to do a little something that makes you happy.
