Happy Monday, friends – hope everyone has an amazing weekend!  After spending four nights in Las Vegas, it was so good to make it home to Orange County yesterday just in time for something so rare: a fall rainstorm.  Although it put a little damper on yesterday’s shopping event, once I got home I wasted zero time before I was curled up on the couch, wrapped up in a favorite blanket, feeling ALL of the fall vibes.  I woke up this morning to even more rain and really had to double-check that we were in fact home.  And I’m loving it – what a way to kick off my Monday.  So in the spirit of all things fall, today I’m layering up, and there’s no easier way to do it than with an oversized little poncho.  I love the suede lining of this one, perfect for mixing prints, and that denim shirt is so great as a middle layer.  The skirt is the one that I wore 497 times last year, and the burgundy boots?  I had no idea how much use I would get out of a pair of burgundy over-the-knee boots, but I’ve worn the hell out of these.  They go with so much more than you’d think.  Mine are sadly sold out, but I’m linking a similar pair here.  And there you have it.  Easy peasy fall layering in a snap.  Now all you need is a little something pumpkin spice.  Hope everyone has a great week ahead!

If you’ve been following along here for the past few months or over on Instagram, you probably know that I’m currently in New Orleans for my wedding week!  It’s been a long time coming, and I can’t believe the big day is almost here.  While planning for our wedding, I spent SO much time finding the dress, the shoes, the accessories, the little things that I wanted to make our day so special.  So when it came time for packing, I was a little overwhelmed to say the least.  There were so many things I needed to remember to pack!  And then it came to planning outfits for the rest of our trip, I went for easy dresses and caftans, gladiator sandals, versatile handbags, and some of my favorite “athleisure” pieces for traveling.  And this new “Mrs.” weekender was the icing on the cake.  So today I’m sharing a few of the pieces that made it into my bag for our wedding trip to New Orleans.  Whether I forgot anything important or not?  I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Motivation Monday

Monday again, and there’s no better time to get off my butt and get moving.  (I mean, our wedding is seriously creeping up, and the whole “shedding for the wedding” thing is…nonexistent so far.)  So today I’m kicking off my week with a little #MotivationMonday, and nothing gets me motivated like some fresh new fit gear.  There are so many great fitness brands these days, but lucy is definitely my go-to.  Their “perfect core” leggings and capris are my favorite workout pants.  They have a higher rise and really suck you in.  Plus, the tanks, tees and jackets are so great for taking me from Pilates to the rest of my day.  Seriously, lucy is my jam in the athletic (and athleisure) department.  If you could use a little Monday Motivation of your own, stay tuned over on Instagram for a giveaway coming soon!

Bringing Back the Holidays

It’s the season of sparkle, the season of spiced cider and eggnog, the season of trees and wreaths, and most importantly, the season of giving.  It seems like the “giving” part sometimes gets lost in all the hustle and bustle, and we end up grabbing this or that because we need a last-minute gift.  This year, I’m trying to change that, and I’m teaming up with T.J.Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods to “bring back the holidays.”  Armed with a gift card and full blast Christmas music, I headed to T.J.Maxx to find the perfect gift for someone deserving this season.  I chose Eric’s (and my soon-to-be) aunt Jeri who lives in Boston, and I can think of no one who deserves a thoughtful gift more this season.  More than just an aunt, this April she’ll be the one who marries us.  She’s just the best, and unfortunately we won’t get to spend the holidays with her this year.  She’s all about her family and her kids, and I wanted to get her a gift that was just for her.  Nothing for the home, nothing to share, just something for her to enjoy.  And she’s a fashionable gal, so a handbag just seemed perfect.  I narrowed my choices down to two: one (gorgeous) leather and calfhair bag that’s great for everyday and one luxe clutch that she could take out to dinner with her girlfriends.  I don’t want to spoil the surprise, so I won’t tell you which bag won.  But I will say, it took all my strength not to keep the second bag for myself.  (They’re so good, right?!)  I’m so excited for this gift and can’t wait to ship it off to Boston.  It’s the season of giving, y’all, and it’s time to bring back the holidays.  Who will you surprise this season?

Well I’m admittedly a few days late, but happy November, y’all! Isn’t that crazy? November? The first couple months of fall flew right by, most likely because it was still, like, a thousand degrees here. But this week we FINALLY got some fall weather (like chili in the crockpot, hot debate about a fire in the fireplace weather), and I’m living in booties like it’s nobody’s business. My bootie of choice is definitely one that’s comfortable enough for all-day wear and sleek enough to go from day to night. And then I found these.

But let’s back up a bit. Recently the folks from Payless reached out about checking out some of their fall and holiday styles, and I thought, well this is a blast from the past. I used to shop at Payless when I was younger, but I’ll admit that it’s been a while since I checked out the store. I headed to a local store and picked out a couple of pairs that I loved. Then, I went online and ordered four more. Seriously. Six pairs of shoes. It was a complete #YOLO moment, and you will die when you see all of the pairs that I chose. They’re on-trend, SO affordable, and so very comfortable. I mean, check out these. And these! And one more pair because you seriously need these for the holidays.

And now back to these booties. Y’all, I cannot tell you how comfortable they are. And I’m obsessed! Wear them with skinnies, with a dress, with tights, with whatever in the world you want. They run true to size and will set you back about 40 bucks. So shop them before they’re gone, and #YOLO it up with all the other fall and holiday options. Happy shopping!

In the summer months, it’s all about easy, throw-on-and-go style for me, so I’m all about the current culotte trend.  This season you can find so many versions of the cropped trend, and while they’re great for dressing up, they’re just as easy to dress down.  This look is part of lucy’s “Culottes Coast to Coast” campaign, and as a West Coaster, a casual beach-side look is key.  A denim jacket, metallic sandals, and statement jewelry help take the cropped pants and lightweight tee from a workout to lunch with friends by the beach.  How will you wear this favorite summer to fall trend?

Packin’ My Bags

Remember that girl you hated posting Instagrams at the beach in March?  Well consider this my official apology.  This week Newport Beach has dealt us a serious taste of our own medicine with overcast days followed by cold and windy nights that have given me a bit of wanderlust.  (I write this post wrapped in a blanket scarf.)  While I have no travel plans at the moment, I know exactly what I’ll be wearing as soon as the chance comes my way.  Lucy has been a go-to for workout wear for me for a while, and I’ll find any way to wear my sweats all day, everyday.  These pants are about as comfy as they come (go figure), and paired with a few other over-worn basics from my closet, they’re good to go and hot to trot.  I’m packin’ my bags.  So come on, people…where to?

Happy weekend, wherever you’re spending it!

Best Dress

Picture

I’ve proclaimed my love of the little black dress since the birth of the blog, but it’s the little white dress that’s been seriously growing on me lately.  Although I’m not usually a huge fan of linen (the wrinkles drive me nuts), this little drop-waist number is such an amazingly versatile piece for spring.  Whether you dress it up with sky-high platforms like the blush pair above or go casual with low-key gladiators, you really can’t go wrong.  Finish with a few strategic pieces of gold, retro shades and one seriously adorable clutch.  Hope everyone is having a great week!
