Y’all, this trip.  This trip right here is how I’d like to spend the Monday and Tuesday nights of my week just about every week.  Back in August, Kitty Kat Kathleen invited me to join her for a couple of nights at the Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara in North San Diego, and I clearly was like, yahs.

As soon as we checked in, I was feeling the vacay vibes even though we were only a couple of hours from home.  Our room was actually larger than any of my Los Angeles apartments and boasted a full kitchen, two full bathrooms, and two balconies.  (Oh, and a sleeper sofa in the living room that was perfect for watching a movie with room service on our second night.  No shame in our game.)

Our first order of business?  Hit the spa, girl.  I had a facial, and let me tell you, these pores were happy.  The esthetician asked what I’d like out of my facial, and I told her I wanted to be young forever.  She laughed, and I’m still wondering what was funny.  Seriously though, the spa was so relaxing, the perfect way to kick off the trip.  I don’t know if I’ll be young forever, but my face did feel pretty dang smooth.

That night we had the most uh-mazing dinner at Seasons, the restaurant on the property.  We got to dine at the chef’s table in the kitchen like some sort of fancy people, and for two girls who can never decide what they want to order, having the chef serve up whatever he wants at the “kitchen counter” really is the way to go.  Each course was paired with wine and was somehow just as amazing as the last, and by course number 387, I was really questioning my decision to wear skinny jeans.  By the way, the restaurant is open to the public, so San Diego area peeps – go there!  (Also go there for brunch and order the avocado benedict with smashed potatoes – it’s legit.)

The next day we spent roaming around the property and hanging by the peaceful pool.  Admittedly, it was a Tuesday, but man was this pool relaxing and also responsible for my first suntan of the summer.  First tan in August?  Not bad.  We ended day numero dos by taking a few photos and then enjoying the aforementioned room service.  Why does food taste better when you eat it in a robe?

This place really is meant to be a home away from home, and it was so nice in the mornings to just walk into our own kitchen, make coffee, and sit out on the balcony.  Although we never even left the property, its location is just a short drive from beaches, restaurants, shopping, and so much exploring.  Plus, no one even looked at me funny when I decided to have a little seat on a luggage cart in the middle of the outdoor lobby, so, ya know, that’s important.

If you guys are looking for a relaxing place to stay in the San Diego area with beyond yummy food, I really can’t recommend the Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara more.  Hope everyone has a great weekend ahead!

That Hammock Swing Chair

Greetings from Palm Springs!  Well, not really.  Not yet, anyway.  Eric and I are heading back to the desert later today or tomorrow to spend the weekend with a couple of friends and accept just one last package delivery.  Well, the last for now perhaps – so far I’ve bought rugs, returned rugs, and am still on the search for some.  Rugs, man.  Tricky, tricky.

But today I’m talking about these hammock swing chairs that we got from Joss & Main.  They were among the first pieces of furniture delivered to the Palm Springs casa and are pretty much the best seats in (or out of) the house.  Even in 110 degree heat, they give us a reason to sit outside or a place to hang after getting out of the pool, and we especially can’t wait to use these all fall and winter long.

I first posted these on the old Instagram on #NationalHammockDay (yes, that’s a thing) and then again when little Weeze took a liking to them, and it seems like you guys are just as excited about them as I am.

But, you know what they say, all good things must come to an end, and these comfy seats have unfortunately sold out.  Whyyyyy?!  I know, I know – it’s a bummer.  But today I’ve searched around and found some super similar options below and also a couple that aren’t very similar but still look pretty rad.  (Also, if these get restocked I’ll be sure to update the links both here and on Instagram.)

And if none of these work for you, then at least you’ve got these cute little pics of Louise the Viz, right?  Happy almost Friday, y’all!

Happy Thursday, friends!  This post has been coming for a while now, and well, here we go.  I shared a bit about it back here on the ‘gram, but today I’m so excited to finally share here on the blog a campaign that I’ve been working on with Swimspot this spring.  Summer after summer I’ve chatted about the struggle to find flattering, comfortable swimsuits that offer enough coverage for busty gals, and finally guys, companies are listening.

And Swimspot has been listening to girls of all shapes and sizes.  If you’re looking for the best suits for your particular body type, head over to the Fit Specialist tab on their site, and voilà.  There are petite frames, curvy girls, athletic bodies, and I’m representing for the busty gals.  It was a bit nerve-wracking to put myself out there, but I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this campaign with five other women that I respect and admire.

And the suits!  Y’all, I tried on and wore SO many swimsuits during the Swimspot photo shoot, but I chose these two bikinis to take along with me to Mexico because they are two of the most comfortable swimsuits that I’ve found that really fit.  And in particular, the “In Training Sport Bra” top is a standout favorite of mine.  I actually own it in three different colors.  It has a hidden underwire that really supports, adjustable straps, and comes in cup sizes.  Plus, it’s just plain cute.  Also, no ties behind the neck = no neck pain at the end of the day.  #TheStruggle

So no matter your size or current swimsuit struggle, I hope you’ll check out Swimspot’s Fit Specialist campaign and help spread the love.  Because summer is almost here, y’all, and nobody wants to worry about finding that perfect suit.

My Favorite Summer Dress on Sale

I’d say if I had to describe my ideal summer dress, it would be something with tassels, embroidery, stripes, or shades of blue.  Boom – all of the above.  I ordered this little summer frock off of Shopbop a couple of weeks ago before our Mexico trip, and I’ve since worn it more than a couple of times.  It’s so easy and comfortable and combines all of my favorite things.  Plus, I really dig the long sleeves on it.  (I always have to remind myself that in Orange County, we have chilly nights well into July.  I went to dinner tonight in jeans, a sweater, and a leather jacket.  No joke, although I am a bit of a baby when it comes to the cold.)

Anywho, it was the perfect frock for roaming around the city of La Paz last week, and lucky for you, it’s currently on sale.  (Head over to this post for the deets on the sale.)  I’m telling you, you won’t regret it, and as an added bonus it’s surprisingly wrinkle resistant, perfect for packing and traveling.  Also, if you’re looking for the most comfy summer wedges around, I’ve found ’em.  I knew these would be comfortable enough for the long haul the second I put them on, so I had no worries about wearing them to explore La Paz.  They’re a dream and come in 7+ colors – shop your heart out, girl.  I’m adding in a few more summer dresses on sale below as well as my hat, bag, and jewels, so here’s hoping you find a little something special to treat yo’self.  Happy Friday, loves!

The current heat wave in Southern California is no joke, and beating the heat is the name of the game around here.  This summer caftan from Coolchange was by far the coolest, most comfortable piece that I brought with me to Miami, and now that I’m back on the left coast, it’s still in heavy rotation.  It’s technically a swimsuit coverup, but partnered with a lightweight slip, it’s been making its way around town lately.  (After all, living in Huntington Beach, can’t I just pretend that I actually did just come from the beach?)  It’s also my go-to for working and hanging around the house these days, and before you accuse me of wearing the same thing every day, just know that I do not care.  Especially when the choice is sweating it out or favorite dress again – the summer caftan always wins.  Now for my next order of business: operation our backyard needs a hammock.  You think the 1 Hotel in South Beach might just send me this one?  Because I’m pretty sure we were meant to be together.

I mentioned it over on the Instagram a few weeks ago, but y’all – what in the world is up with denim shorts this summer?  I’ve personally ordered and promptly returned like five pairs of denim undies so far.  Way too short and snug around the legs.  Am I getting old or what?  What’s a girl got to do to get a decent pair of jorts around here?  Well after my several failed attempts, I’ve finally found the best denim shorts around.  These are roomy and comfy and getting even better with each wear.  (I sized up from my normal jean size.)  ANNNND, they’re on sale.  40% off and I’m telling you, you need these.  I don’t really want to admit how many days I wore these this week (and the fact that I’m still wearing them now as I type this), but it’s a lot.  Throw on an equally easy blouse and the mules that are comfy enough for all day, and you’re good to go, girl.  The best denim shorts for right around 40 bucks?  Happy Monday, girl.

As they say, all good things must come to an end, and today marks my very last post from last month’s trip to Cabo and also a kind of farewell to summer style.  Seems like forever ago, right?  Well with the whole computer crash thing and then New York Fashion Week, I’ve had a few delays in getting these last looks up.  This one is definitely one of my favorites from the trip, and while I may be saying goodbye to summer style, I’m holding onto these suede lace-up heels and denim cutoffs for a couple months longer.  Unfortunately it’ll be warm in Southern California for at least a few more weeks, and I love using denim cutoffs as a fall transition piece with loose sweaters, plaid button-downs, or lightweight jackets.  This staple pair is definitely my favorite from a couple seasons back, and they’re currently 30% off and available in most sizes.  So don’t miss out!  Because there’s nothing I love more in my closet than my worn-in, stretched out, ripped and destroyed denim cutoffs.  Anyone else?

Wow, guys.  What a weekend.  We spent Friday celebrating my future sister-in-law’s wedding, and it couldn’t have been a more beautiful night.  We’re still recovering from the weekend over here.  Rewinding a bit today and bringing it back to last month’s Cabo trip.  This palm-printed dress is so lightweight and comfortable, perfect for a Mexican vacation, and looking at these photos I’m like, can we go back to this day?  Hope everyone has a great start to their week!
