Jumpsuit and clutch (c/o) Sears

When it comes to holiday dressing, the options in my closet can get pretty old pretty quick, but I’ve got a couple black jumpsuits that always seem to pull me out of a jam.  It may seem unlikely, but a black jumpsuit is definitely one of my go-to pieces for the holidays and anytime really.  They’re so versatile and pretty unexpected in a sea of LBD’s and sparkly things.  This season, I’m teaming up with Sears to bring you a little gift-giving and holiday style, and this jumpsuit is a total score from the recently re-launched Metaphor Collection from Sears.  While it’s on sale for less than $25, you really can’t go wrong.  Add a jeweled belt, heeled sandals, and statement clutch (also from Sears), and the look is instantly day-to-night sleek. (And bonus: in soft, slinky fabrics, they’re as comfortable as they are on point.)  If the upcoming holiday parties have you in a wardrobe rut, I’d definitely recommend jumpsuit-ing yourself, and no better place to start than Sears.

Young Fabulous & Broke jumpsuit via Marshalls (similar);  Report Signature flats (similar);  Ann Taylor scarf;  Louis Vuitton Verona bag;  Free People leather jacket;  Ray-Ban sunglasses

These days when it comes to traveling, I’m no stranger to the red-eye flight.  If I’m flying to the East Coast, it’s the best way to maximize my time there.  I usually don’t mind taking an overnight flight because luckily I sleep so well on planes, but it can be tricky dressing for it.  I want to be as comfortable as possible for sleeping (read: no jeans, heels, etc.), and I try to stick with non-wrinkling fabrics that won’t look like a hot mess on arrival.  Jersey maxi dresses and jumpsuits are always a favorite, and this one, found recently at Marshalls, is just the softest.  The tapered legs mean I can wear it with flats, and it’s easy enough to shimmy down during bathroom breaks.  (TMI?  Sorry, it’s jumpsuit truth.)  I’m usually cold on planes, so I make sure to bring a cozy scarf and warm jacket along with a roomy handbag big enough for the essentials.  What is your go-to look when traveling?

Style Under $100 With Love, Olia

Lulu’s jumpsuit and heels (c/o)

Helloooo, out there, and happy Tuesday!  This week I’m excited to once again team up with the adorable Olia from Love, Olia to bring you a little style under $100, and this time we’re playing favorites with Lulu’s.  If you’re not familiar, Lulu’s is a go-to site for buys on a budget with the cutest selection of clothing and accessories.  My favorite by far has got to be their shoe section where you can get seriously on-trend styles that won’t break the bank.  (Hello, new gladiators under $40.)  For this week’s $100 challenge, I just couldn’t resist this jumpsuit (because when can I ever resist a good jumpsuit), and I love pairing the navy silk one piece with black accessories.  A simple pair of heels and accessories completed the look for a date night, work event, girls’ night out, or anything in between.  Looking for a little more budget inspiration?  Head over to Love, Olia and check out her Lulu’s look.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Pants Party

Swell jumpsuit (converted to pants) (c/o);  Forever 21 tee;  Urban Outfitters vest;  necklace (c/o) Paula & Chlo25% off with code MYSTYLEDIARIES25Henri Bendel sunglassesMichael Kors watchGorjana ring; NARS Velvet Matte Pencil in Dragon Girl

Gosh I’m a sucker for printed pants.  In general I’m a huge fan of wide leg pants like these, and when you slap a bold summer kaleidoscope print on them, well then there’s just no saying no.  These were originally part of a halter jumpsuit from Swell.com (which has sadly sold out), and although I love a good jumpsuit, I just couldn’t help snipping these into separates.  Paired with a white tee and oversized denim vest, they make for an easy summer look finished with staple accessories.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

It’s Party Season

On day 2 of my new sparkle belt addiction, I’m partnering up with a few favorite gals and rocking full-on holiday style because four looks are always better than one.  This year my absolute go-to for holiday style is this classic (and oh-so-comfortable) Ripley Rader jumpsuit.  My love of all things Ripley Rader (including the designer and all-around cool girl herself) started back in the spring and really hit its peak when I got to wear one of her sequined masterpieces a few weeks ago.  I’m a huge fan of these easy jumpsuits, and this classic black one is timeless and seasonless.  Paired with a little bling and a lotta red lip, it’s fool-proof.  For a few more holiday ideas, hop on over to Lou What Wear, Out and Outfit, Seersucker + Saddles, and Side Smile Style to see how these lovely ladies do party dressing.  Happy Friday, everyone!

P.S. – And speaking of the holidays, I hope to see you all at tonight’s UNO de 50 Blogger Party!

Gifts for the white elephant exchange

Last night I attended A Sparkling Soiree hosted by GLAM and Sauza Sparkling Margaritas, and as usual with GLAM, the night did not disappoint.  The fete was held at the Petit Ermitage hotel, a little gem in West Hollywood with the most amazing rooftop situation.  On the menu for the evening:  an amazing salmon and steak dinner, Sauza Sparkling Margaritas, an ice cream sundae bar (complete with edible glitter), and plenty of time for chit chat.  We ended the evening with a fun white elephant gift exchange, and it was so fun seeing girls eying (and stealing!) each other’s gifts.  The dress code for the night was “Dress to Dazzle”, and there’s pretty much nothing more dazzling than one of Ripley Rader’s sequined jumpsuits.  I met the line’s adorable designer back in the spring, and she’s a total doll.  Yesterday I swung by her amazing studio in Los Angeles (which I totally did not want to leave) and scooped up this beautiful number for the evening.  I’m so bummed that I don’t have better pictures of it, but below are a few favorites from her collection.  (If you aren’t really a sequin kind of gal, her basic pieces are pretty much anything but basic and very much beautiful.)  I felt like a million bucks in that jumpsuit, and really, shouldn’t all of our clothes make us feel that way?  Thanks so much to GLAM and Sauza for having me, to Ripley Rader for dressing me, and hope everyone has an amazing weekend!

Ahh, Monday, we meet again.  This past weekend was really one for the books.  One for the seriously overfed, still in a food coma by Monday morning books.  On Saturday, we celebrated a friend with a proper fiesta, complete with a carne asada cookout and a margarita or two, and yesterday we rounded out the weekend with brunch.  I came across this jumpsuit (last seen here) while rummaging through my closet, and along with a pair of go-to sandals, it was an easy choice for yesterday’s brunching.  A fringe bag and minimal accessories (including my favorite nameplate necklace) finished off the look.  How was everyone’s weekend?

P.S. – Head over to Gorjana and use code “MORE30” to take an additional 30% off the entire sale section (which currently includes my red wrap bracelet, above).

Ocean Inspiration

Picture

I’m not gonna lie, these days, I’d rather spend every second of every day laying by the beach, magazine in hand and toes in the sand.  Unfortunately, that type of behavior would probably leave me homeless and shoeless, so I’ll stick with just pretending by bringing the ocean inspiration with me.  I love all the beautifully printed clutches by Samudra for a little beach action wherever you go, and worn with the breeziest t-shirt jumpsuit, it creates such a dressed-up vacation vibe.  Bold platforms, printed sunnies, and statement jewels up the glam factor for a supermodel-off-duty kind of thing, no?

Jumpsuit: Target; Jacket: (c/o) Old Navy; Wedges and Bag: (c/o) T.J. Maxx; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban; Watch: Michael Kors; Ring: Vita Fede; Bracelet: Karen London
Rounding out the week today with a few outfit pictures from Day 1 of Lucky FABB.  I randomly ordered this Target jumpsuit without really thinking when I’d wear it, and after trying on my entire closet in preparation for last week’s conference, it was a clear favorite.  Denim jackets have never really been my thing, but this one just seemed right when paired with a retro jumpsuit.  The final touches: a bag big enough for the essentials (AKA every electronic device I own and not a single charger), seriously comfortable wedges (always a win when you can still walk in heels/wedges at the end of the day), aviators and layered jewelry.  It was a rough week rejoining the real world after Lucky FABB, but here’s hoping everyone has an amazing weekend!

P.S. – And speaking of dead electronics, how amazing is this Everpurse?  Seriously chic AND it charges your phone.  Genius.

Easter’s Best

So I’m pretty sure I started planning for spring (and heavily blogging about it) somewhere around January.  February for sure.  Late December maybe.  But there’s one weekend that officially kicks off the season for me: Easter.  Because my family is so far away, I’ve spent every Easter for the past few years with the man-friend’s family.  It’s a full day of egg hunting, eating, laughing, the occasional heated kickball game, and more eating.  During the day it’s usually just warm enough to go sleeveless, and by nighttime, I’m definitely glad I brought a sweater.

A fun, floral dress or romper is always a go-to, but for this year I’m really loving this lightweight denim dress, belted, with a neon cardigan.  (My closet is currently overrun with “boyfriend” cardigans, but this neon green version is definitely calling my name.  Loudly.)  Bangles and such are a definite must (it has to be distracting during kickball, right?), while aviators and easy-to-kick-off wedges round the whole thing out.  But if your bunny season just wouldn’t be complete without a little flowy, flirty goodness, then maybe the looks below are a bit more likely to tickle your fancy.  (And I must say, the black jumpsuit is random, but oh so good, no?)  So what’s your version of your Easter’s best?
xoxo
