Last week I declared my love for all fringe bags, and this week I’m following up with an ode to the bucket bag.  I don’t know if you’ve ever carried one of these, but seriously there’s no better sack to shove your crap in all day.  There’s no zippers, snaps, buttons or BS, just a slide and go tassel situation between you and your wallet.  (And phone, and lipgloss…)  Above I’ve rounded up a few favorites, and below, we’re giving a sweet, sweet bucket away.  (I’m talking Chloe, people.)  So enter as much as you can, because dammit I want to win this one myself.  Good luck, and may the (shopaholic) force be with you.

Festival Fashion With SwimSpot

With the beginning of spring comes the beginning of festival season, and while I usually don’t make it to the actual festivals, I’m all about a little festival fashion.  The breezy fabrics, loose silhouettes, fringe, jewels and overall goodness really suits the bohemian girl inside, and really, I think festival style is a lot like beach style.  During the day it’s about beating the heat, and once the sun goes down, you can add on a bit to finish the look.  Today I’m partnering up with SwimSpot to bring you a little festival fashion of my own, and this gorgeous white poncho is pretty much the end-all, be-all, can’t go “festivalling” without it piece.  It’s perfect for covering up a swimsuit (the standard uniform while sweating and dancing it out in the desert) and works just as well paired with denim cut-offs later in the day.  Pile on the accessories, and you’re good to go.

Go where, you ask?  Well if you’re looking to get yourself to Southern California’s hottest (both literally and figuratively) music festival (rhymes with umbrella..ella..ella), then you’re in luck my friend.  SwimSpot wants to send you and your bestie to Indio April 10th through 12th.  Just head over to their Instagram to enter.  Good luck!

This season the 70’s are back in a big way meaning wide leg jeans and flares are everywhere, and while I definitely dig it, I’m not ready to part with my skinnies just yet.  I mean, it was such a huge adjustment getting used to these so many years ago (my freshman year of college to be exact) – so why give up now?  That’s right, I’m holding onto skinny jeans like Linus to a blanket, and you can’t stop me.  Today I’m adding in a bit of 70’s flare with extreme platforms (because I’m not a total trend hater) and taking it easy with a relaxed boyfriend oxford.  And while we’re on the topic of trends…pale blue, people.  As in, you need it.  Starting with this GiGi bucket bag.

Spring Covet: Pale Blue Hues

Today I’ve got my eyes on spring, and anything in a pale blue hue is my covet du jour.  I’ve always been a fan of light blue clothing for spring (it’s an easy choice for most blondes I think), but this season I’m loving all of the accessories, shoes, and handbags in my favorite color.  So whether you go all out with a baby blue maxi or grab a handbag for a small dose of the shade, these pieces are sure to get you in the mood for spring.

If there’s one piece in my closet that I can’t get enough of this winter, it’s definitely the oversized, oh-so-cozy blanket scarves that rarely leave my neck.  I’ve paired them with every outfit, from dresses to jeans to sweats, and today’s look has become pretty standard.  If you’re still looking for those last-minute holiday gifts, these scarves are seriously a no-brainer.  How’s that holiday shopping list coming along?

I’ve said it before, but the dressed-up sweats trend is a train I will ride until the very end.  Whoever decided that “comfort clothes” (as Eric refers to them) with heels and accessories is an OK thing is my hero and Anna Wintour’s nightmare.  (The devil does NOT wear sweats.)  And then I found these, in the softest faux suede you ever will see.  My day was officially made.  They’re ridiculously comfortable, and worn with a little something embellished up top, it’s pretty solidified that you’re not headed to the gym.  Peep-toe booties, accessories, and a bold lip finish off the look.  What do you think about non-workout sweats?

According to the calendar, fall is in full swing, but despite a few chilly mornings here lately, the days have still been pretty warm.  So today is a little ode to resortwear (always a favorite of mine) and Kenna + Maxi, a beautiful new line of coverups and kaftans all made in Los Angeles.  I can think of pretty much nothing I’d rather wear all day than a pretty, flowy kaftan that moves with every step or bit of wind.  In less than a month I’ll be heading to Hawaii for a friend’s wedding, and I’m thinking this line has Hawaii written all over it.  If you’re heading someplace warm this winter, I’d definitely suggest taking a look at this line before packing your bags.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!

GRAMMY Style: Gilded Ladies

PictureImages via Getty Images

Last night was yet another fabulous night of award show fashion, and the inspiration train definitely rolls on.  Of all the award shows, The Grammy red carpet is always a toss-up, and you never know what to expect.  While previous years have become shock factor competitions filled with intentional nip slips, this year’s looks were unexpectedly tame and so very beautiful.  Beyonce killed it per the usual;  Miranda Lambert stunned in red;  and three of my favorites glowed in gold.  Chrissy Teigen, Taylor Swift, and Ciara all rocked my favorite fashion trend of the night: all out gold.

Now it’s no secret that I’ve got a thing for gold.  In jewelry and embellishments, my motto is “more is more”, but creating a full-on gilded look can be a bit trickier.  The key to taking this trend from the red carpet to the streets is to choose one piece (like the skirt below) and build around it.  An easy neutral sweater and must-have blush coat keep the look pulled-together and easy to wear.  For another take on the trend, try a metallic dress paired with a leather jacket and basic black booties, or take a gilded blazer for a spin.  Whatever you try, be confident have a little fun with it.  Hope everyone has a great week!

Pastel Metallic Neutral

Picture

These days, my brain is on all holiday dressing, all the time, and metallics are a natural go-to.  For this look, a body-conscious gold tube skirt is the starting point.  A neutral oversized sweater with a pastel pink coat give the bold skirt an unexpected twist.  Keep the rest of the look minimal with a sleek pair of two-toned pumps, an embossed python clutch (obsessed with these personalized clutches from GiGi New York), and a couple of statement jewels.  Whether you’re headed to an after-hours office party or dinner and drinks with the girls, this look is festive and fun without veering over the top.  Hope everyone is having a great week!
