Admittedly, this pumpkin patch was way warm. Too warm for any thought of fall layering, but lucky for me, this little shirt slash sweater dress is fake-layered. Yep, it’s a phony, and I’m way into that. I’m that girl that avoids anything too sheer in the summer because I seriously hate layering a tank underneath when it’s hot. Well, it’s hot out now, and this “layered” little dress is just what I needed. Dress it up with a pair of pumps, or take it easy with flat over-the-knee boots and head to the nearest pumpkin patch. Because believe it or not, October is almost over and the stores are beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Time to drink up this pumpkin season before it’s gone!
Well it was only a matter of time before the ultimate plaid lover (me) started stacking the print, and today’s look with Old Navy is pretty much bringing out my inner lumberjack. There’s just no better print for fall, and faced with the decision of plaid shirt or checked cape, I was like…both. On that note, I’ve never been one to pass up a good poncho or cape, and right now Old Navy has tons of them in all shapes and sizes. (This one is up next on my list.) So head over to Old Navy where today only you can take 40% off of $100 purchase with code SPREE. Happy shopping!
Oh hey there, party people. Guess who’s all dressed up with nowhere to go? Well, not technically. Today I’m sharing my look from the GiGi New York and Yosi Samra boat party that we attended during NYFW…at least minus the shoes. I had high hopes of wearing these red beauties for the maritime festivities, but the rainy evening and slightly rocky boat had other ideas. So I kicked these off for a pair of mules that were a bit more manageable and ended up having the best time. The night was way too dark and wet for many photo opps, so everyone just kind of put their phones away and had fun hanging out with each other. And isn’t that really the whole point? Buuuut, while I’m thinking about it, I hope you’re following along on Instagram because guess who’s headed down to New Orleans this morning? That’s right, this girl. I’ve been Pilates-ing my face off so that I can beignet the day away once I’m there. Totally fine, right?
When I was in high school, my ultimate hair goal was straight as a board and as flat as I could make it. Sounds nightmarish now, but it was the thing. With naturally wavy hair, it was a challenge that I (and a plethora of straighteners) could handle. Over the years (10 actually – that reunion is creeping up on me REAL quick), my hair has naturally flattened itself out, and I’d kill for that texture I used to have. You always want what you can’t have, and the grass is always greener, yada yada yada. So these days I’ll pretty much try anything that would’ve sent me running for the hills as a teenager. Volumizers, dry shampoos, curling wands (this one is my hands-down favorite), I’ll try it.
And try it I did when I heard about the brand new collaboration from Toni & Guy and Sophia Webster. Yep, that Sophia Webster. The one who makes the most killer heels that I’d die to have in my closet. I took the Shampoo and Conditioner for Fine Hair for a whirl as well as the Volume Plumping Whip. After air drying a bit and then blow-drying, I used a wand to curl tight, ringlet-type curls, sprayed with hairspray, and brushed through with my usual hairbrush. Coiffed, poofed, and out the door in just about 30 minutes. (The one advantage of having my toddler mane – drying and curling time is way low.)
And now for the best part. You can save 25% with Cartwheel (download it in the App Store), and all Toni & Guy products are BOGO 50% off until 10/31. So don’t miss out! Your pageant-ready mane awaits.
xoxo

Well in case you missed it, last Wednesday officially kicked off fall, and this girl was ready. REAL ready. This is the time when Eric goes into a little depression that summer is over, but I’m over here happy as a clam anticipating a break from the heat. Because sweating your makeup off and general hot-and-bothered moods are just not cute. And because with the cooler weather comes all things fall fashion. Bring on the scarves, the fur, the sweaters, and most of all, the booties.
Now in case you’re like “I’m just not the booties type of girl,” I present to you Exhibit A. These G by Guess kicks from DSW Shoes aren’t your typical pair of fall booties. They’re basically a cage heel pretending to be booties, and I’m A-OK with that. These gals could easily complete any girls’ night out look, jazz up an LBD, or play nice with your new favorite suede skirt and shearling bomber combo. (Umm, this jacket, you guys? Softest thing on the planet.) So while I’m totally a “booties type of girl,” these just kicked my love for them up a notch. And also, a few more kicks to love below. Fall is here, people — go get yourself a little wardrobe reboot!
At DSW, we believe that shoes have the power to bring out something great in everyone. So no matter who you are or how you dress, we’ve got just what you need. Shoes say a lot about you. Spend a little. Say a lot.
Happy Friday, people! Maybe it’s just me, but this week FLEW by. I woke up this morning all out of whack, like what day is it? (Friday, girl.) What time am I supposed to be working out this morning? (I’ve worked out at the same exact time for quite a while now…) Anyway, after a sweat sesh with Erica Ziel and more coffee than I’d like to admit, I’ve got my shit together and am ready for the weekend. Today I’m sharing one of my summer essentials: wide leg pants. Because when it’s hot out, nothing sounds less appealing than skinny jeans. I’m loving the stripes on this easy pair from Oasis, and worn with a bright floral top, they’re weekend wear at its finest. Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!
Happy Friday, loves! Today’s post is a little tardy, but after a crazy week in New York, it’s so great to be back in California. First, I have to get a little sappy here and say how AMAZING all of the support for this week’s Target swim campaign has been. You guys! Putting myself out there (In a swimsuit! In a video! Yikes!) was such a scary decision, but I was so excited to be a part of a campaign that celebrates women of all different shapes and sizes. The most incredible opportunity came my way, and there was no way to pass it up. As the video launched though, I braced myself for a little bit of “hate mail.” But I was SO wrong. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of it. I’m one lucky gal and just had to take a minute to say THANK YOU!
Next up, let’s talk summer dressing and one of my favorite summer staples: the shirtdress. This one is from one of my absolute favorite lines, Wayf, and it’s perfect for the warm months ahead. It’s a serious no-brainer, so I’m so excited to team up with wayf and Krystal from A Pinch of Lovely to give one away! Even better, we’re sweetening the deal with their adorable striped midi skirt and rolled sleeve tee. AND, even better? We’re also including everyone’s favorite Jenn Bucket Bag from GiGi New York! Ya’ll – this bag is seriously one of my favorite handbags ever, and I’m so excited to give one away. Want to enter? Head over to Instagram, follow all four accounts, like the photo, and tag a couple of friends. Good luck, and have a great weekend!
Sometimes when you’re stumped on what to wear, it’s best to just throw on your party pants and call it a day. These shorts from KAS New York are pretty much the summer equivalent of party pants, and I’m not gonna lie, I’m obsessed. For a quick day to night look, a lightweight blouse, denim jacket and heels do the trick, but I can already picture these with so many other pieces from my closet. Throw on a t-shirt and flat sandals for a low-key day, or add a white blazer, clutch, and tall wedges to jazz them up a bit. Whatever the occasion, you really can’t go wrong with a great pair of statement shorts…Or party pants…Whatever floats your boat.
A couple of weeks ago I finally got to check out the canals in Venice Beach, and I can’t believe I never made it there sooner. Not that it’s some huge attraction to see, but I lived in LA for five years and pretty much never knew this area existed. (What the?) It’s such a cute little section of Venice, and I so enjoyed taking a stroll around in my favorite onesie pajamas jumpsuit. This knit jumper is just about as soft as it gets without being actual pajamas, and by pairing it with a breezy kimono and my new favorite cushion-y wedges (seriously, so comfortable), I was pretty much in PJ heaven. Comfy? You betcha. Just rolled out of bed? I think not.
I love a good monochromatic look, and this spring and summer, I’m all about incorporating more blues into my wardrobe. This jumpsuit from CAbi is one of those pieces you’ll find yourself reaching for again and again – from day to night, workday to weekend. It’s so easy to dress up or down, and today it’s going down (for real) with a favorite denim jacket and metallic sandals. This bucket bag is available in every necessary color for summer, fits all your crap, and makes just about any look better. It’s a seasonless keeper that I’d definitely recommend.
