Although this Old Navy “Little Bold Dress” is fitted and sleek enough for your favorite pair of dressed-up pumps, I love the laidback appeal of pairing it with a slouchy cardigan and Western-style booties.  A bright floral messenger and standout statement ring add fun contrast, and a leather band watch and ombre shades complete the relaxed vibe for a look that is chic, carefree and far from sloppy.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Being somewhat of a creature of habit, I’m constantly on the hunt for the perfect little black dress.  I came across this jersey tank version by Riller & Fount a few seasons ago, and to me, it is about as perfect as they come.  It pairs easily with just about every cardigan I own (including this semi-sheer blue cocoon from Urban Outfitters) but is perfectly capable of standing alone during the hot summer months.  These pictures were taken while heading to brunch on my last day in Kansas this past weekend.  Low-key booties (that have been in constant rotation lately), beaded bracelets, classic aviators, and this adorable wallet/clutch (which conveniently fits the contents of my wallet along with a lipgloss and my iPhone) completed the look for a laidback layered feel.

Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference

Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend the Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference in New York.  It was an amazing day of listening to key-note speakers (including personal favorites Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere and Andy of The Style Scrapbook) and mingling with so many other fashion bloggers like myself.  Ignoring the forecast of cold rain, (come on, it’s a blogger conference) I chose printed silk pants and layered knit separates topped with a favorite faux fur coat.  (In my defense, I was equipped with tights under the lightweight pants and shearling-lined booties.)  Upon leaving the event, the light snow flurries outside added the cherry on top of a perfect day.  The subsequent retail therapy at Topshop (where I found this amazing maxi dress) later that night probably didn’t hurt either.

Cozy Cords

There’s something so warm and inviting about a cozy pair of cords on a chilly fall day.  Up the luxe factor with an easy boyfriend cardigan (like this ultra-yummy, goes-with-everything version by Madewell) and comfortable velvet loafers.  Finish the look with an oversized printed clutch, a statement neutral ring and tortoise shell sunglasses to look and feel great all day long.
