Trouve leggingsAritzia cardigan and tee;  Booties (c/o) T.J.Maxx;  Gentle Fawn scarf (c/o);  Melie Bianco “Carrie” bag (c/o);  Thursday Friday fur keyring (c/o);  Julie Vos necklaces and bracelet (c/o);  Vita Fede stone ring;  Ariella Collections cheetah ring (c/o) Nordstrom;  Calvin Klein sunglasses
Is there really anything better than a slightly oversized and fully delicious grandpa cardigan in the fall?  Maybe to you, but to me?  Nope.  There are probably a thousand better ways to look pulled together and polished, but for a laidback day, it’s the perfect topper for a simple tee and leather leggings.  Statement jewels (like these current favorites from Julie Vos) dress the look up a little.  Finish with an easy pair of wedge booties, and add a bit of color with a bold handbag and contrasting scarf.  What are some of your go-to comfy pieces for fall?

After a heatwave of a weekend, we got another little breath of fall this week, and I couldn’t wait to pull out these skinnies.  Coated denim definitely dresses up your basic blues and gives a leather look that is so key for fall.  For a low-key dinner, a simple white blouse, black cardigan, and sleek heels are all you need.  Hope everyone is having a fabulous week!

Summer Cardi

Hudson Jeans; The Limited tank; Jigsaw London cardi (c/o); JustFab bag (c/o); Nine West loafers; Ray-Ban sunglasses; by boe necklace
So this is one of those magical cardigans that you can wear like 457 ways.  I think the actual number is closer to maybe six or seven, but I’ll probably stick with two because I’m a creature of habit and that’s how creatures like me roll.  Regardless of how it’s worn, the real kicker here is the fabric yumminess (it’s a word, go with it) and the perfect feather weight for summer.  Paired with a striped tank and favorite skinnies (seriously, FAVORITE), it makes a sleepy schmoe look like she actually tried during a week that just seems to keep going.  And going.  And… Well it’s Friday, kids, and it looks like we made it.  So cheers to that, and happy Friday to everyone!

Riller & Fount dress (old, but love the new crop at Revolve); Margaret O’Leary sweater (c/o); Booties (c/o) Lulu’s; Urban Outfitters bag; TLC & You bracelet (c/o); Vanessa Mooney necklaces; Boera ring (c/o)
Although summer is in full effect here, it still gets pretty chilly by the beach once the sun goes down, so I live for easy cardigans that pair well with my summer wardrobe.  I love the fringe trim of this navy version from Margaret O’Leary, and it’s the perfect sundown topper for my favorite summer t-shirt dresses.  I couldn’t help myself from taking the turquoise / tan fringe / silver jewels road, and I’m loving the way the outfit moves.  How would you wear this fringed cardi this summer?

Photos thanks to Sierra and Brie Cross

H&M dress; random cardigan; BDG vest; Nine West booties via Nordstrom; JustFab bag (c/o); Ray-Ban aviators; Gorjana rings, bracelet, and necklace (c/o); Michael Kors watch

As I mentioned yesterday, I spent the past couple of days in Seattle for a blogger panel with Nordstrom along with Devon, Sierra, and Mara.  The trip was definitely short but sweet, and it was really great discussing style blogs with some of the fabulous folks at Nordstrom and Glam Media.  After the panel, we headed to Nordstrom for a little shopping (obviously) where I purchased my first bold red lipstick, well, ever, thanks to a little prodding from Sierra and the lovely Brie from Nordstrom’s PR team.  (You can check out the post-red-lip shot here.  You like?)  Overall it was an amazing first time in Seattle, and although I didn’t want to leave, it’s nice to be home just in time for the weekend.  Happy Friday, everyone!

Easter’s Best

So I’m pretty sure I started planning for spring (and heavily blogging about it) somewhere around January.  February for sure.  Late December maybe.  But there’s one weekend that officially kicks off the season for me: Easter.  Because my family is so far away, I’ve spent every Easter for the past few years with the man-friend’s family.  It’s a full day of egg hunting, eating, laughing, the occasional heated kickball game, and more eating.  During the day it’s usually just warm enough to go sleeveless, and by nighttime, I’m definitely glad I brought a sweater.

A fun, floral dress or romper is always a go-to, but for this year I’m really loving this lightweight denim dress, belted, with a neon cardigan.  (My closet is currently overrun with “boyfriend” cardigans, but this neon green version is definitely calling my name.  Loudly.)  Bangles and such are a definite must (it has to be distracting during kickball, right?), while aviators and easy-to-kick-off wedges round the whole thing out.  But if your bunny season just wouldn’t be complete without a little flowy, flirty goodness, then maybe the looks below are a bit more likely to tickle your fancy.  (And I must say, the black jumpsuit is random, but oh so good, no?)  So what’s your version of your Easter’s best?

Winter at the Beach

Dress: (c/o) LA Made; Sweater: Heartloom; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban; Necklace and Ring: (c/o) Stella & Bow; Bracelets: (c/o) InPink
I’m a sucker for a good black maxi for spring, and this one from LA Made’s resort collection is definitely a new favorite.  Yesterday I decided it definitely couldn’t sit in my closet until spring, so I threw it on with a favorite oversized sweater for a walk down to the beach.  The fabric is super soft, and the neck cutout and side slits make it equally appealing with a pair of heels for a night out.  Right now, you can score this resort-ready dress, as well as anything else on LA Made’s site, for 20% off using code “NIKKI20” at checkout.  Happy Shopping!

Super Bowl Weekend

It’s Super Bowl Weekend, and you know what that means.  That’s right.  Finger foods, kick-ass commercials, and (Gasp!) a rumored Destiny’s Child reunion.  (Hello, halftime.)  So slap on some (“Bootylicious“) skinnies and an oversized cardigan for a comfy, cozy look.  I predict a “Jumpin’, Jumpin‘” Sunday Funday.  (It’s Destiny’s Child humor.  Just go with it, people.)  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Denim Distress

Well, the holidays are over, and it’s a brand new year.  Time to squeeze back into those skinny jeans and see how long this year’s health kick resolution will last.  Right now I’m loving the look of distressed denim paired with a major heel and a smart tee and cardigan combo.  Add a fun clutch and a few statement jewels for a pulled-together without trying too hard kind of vibe.  Hope everyone is having a great start to the new year!

Last Minute Shopping

It seems that once again this year, despite my best efforts, I’ve managed to save a chunk of my holiday shopping for the last minute.  But hey, what’s done is done, and I’m a people person, so what could be better than four million shoppers and one compact parking spot?  If you share my fate, then the least you can do is arm yourself with a little cozy comfort.  Second skin jeans.  Loose tee.  Ultra soft cardigan.  Even softer faux fur scarf.  No heels, no ma’am.  And for Pete’s sake, keep your handbag handsfree and towards the smaller end of the spectrum.  You’ll thank me later.  Happy shopping, y’all!
