While taking a stroll over the old Instagram this morning, I noticed that lately I’ve got quite a thing for stripes. And truth be told, it’s not just a recent obsession. I feel like of all the prints and patterns that I dig – florals, plaid, gingham, and even palm prints – stripes are definitely my main squeeze. They’re so classic and easy to mix, match and mingle, and this season, they’re once again everywhere.

So whether you go for a swimsuit (the tankini at number one is so good for busty gals), a fun bag, or a little something for your feet, you really can’t go wrong with adding a little stripe to any look. My personal faves? Well, I did pick all of the above, but I really want to get my hands on numbers five and fourteen – nothing better than a pool sarong that doubles as a scarf later. And the slides at number nine are pretty dang cute for under $25. Also, if you’re looking for the absolute softest tees around, the brand at number three has that ALL figured out. The Denim Shorts I’m Still Living In

What do you do when you can’t wait a single second longer for denim shorts season? You pair ’em with a couple of cozy, layered tops and call it a day. I’ve been yammering on and on lately about cabi clothing, and this little sweater tank is another fave of the season. Wear it with a pair of flowy pants, skinny jeans, or your favorite denim shorts. And these shorts (first worn back here) are definitely my faves.

Every time I wear these shorts someone asks where they are from because they’re not like the usual tight-fitting, suctioned to your legs fit that seams to fill the retail shelves. Why is it so hard to find denim shorts that aren’t like denim undies? Can I get an amen? Summer and Travel Essentials with lucy

When packing for someplace tropical (or just beating the heat at home during the summer), you probably don’t immediately think of an activewear line to stock up on essentials. Well, think again, friends. Today I’m sharing one of my favorite little dresses from my recent trip to Mexico, and it’s from my very favorite activewear line, lucy.

I’ve been a fan of lucy’s leggings and tanks for years for actually working out, but in recent seasons, I’ve especially gravitated towards their dresses, jumpers, and separates to support my love of all things athleisure. Today’s midi dress is just about as lightweight as they come, has a mesh detail in the back for added ventilation, and is just SO comfortable. After a day in the sun or night out, it was pretty much the only dress I wanted to throw on and wear all day. Plus, the fabric is so great for packing and travel because it stays pretty wrinkle-free and won’t look like a hot mess when you pull it out of your suitcase.

Other travel-friendly favorites include these denim-look leggings that are perfect for the plane, these easy crops that I want to live in, and this lightweight wrap cardigan that’s a go-to for chilly nights. Well, and maybe this little jacket top too. And everything else below. When everything is this cute and comfy, picking favorites is hard to do! Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

My Favorite Summer Dress on Sale

I’d say if I had to describe my ideal summer dress, it would be something with tassels, embroidery, stripes, or shades of blue. Boom – all of the above. I ordered this little summer frock off of Shopbop a couple of weeks ago before our Mexico trip, and I’ve since worn it more than a couple of times. It’s so easy and comfortable and combines all of my favorite things. Plus, I really dig the long sleeves on it. (I always have to remind myself that in Orange County, we have chilly nights well into July. I went to dinner tonight in jeans, a sweater, and a leather jacket. No joke, although I am a bit of a baby when it comes to the cold.)

Anywho, it was the perfect frock for roaming around the city of La Paz last week, and lucky for you, it’s currently on sale. (Head over to this post for the deets on the sale.) I’m telling you, you won’t regret it, and as an added bonus it’s surprisingly wrinkle resistant, perfect for packing and traveling. Also, if you’re looking for the most comfy summer wedges around, I’ve found ’em. I knew these would be comfortable enough for the long haul the second I put them on, so I had no worries about wearing them to explore La Paz. Vacation Style and the Perfect Summer Shoes (Plus a Giveaway)

Hello and happy Tuesday from Playa de La Paz, y’all! Last week’s trip came at the perfect time because (besides getting far, far away from our construction project home) I finally got to break in some of the new spring and summer pieces that I’d been staring at in my closet. Happy new week, friends, and yes, I’m a day late with that but let’s just go with it here. I’m currently in Playa de La Paz for the week, and y’all, it’s seriously beautiful. (There will be a full recap coming up on the blog, but you can follow along this week over on the Instagram.) And while I’d love to say that I’ve used these adorable lucy leggings to get ready for a full week in swimsuits, I’ll be honest, I’m living in these because they’re just plain cute. And well, as comfy as can be.

BUT! Jenn from Haute Off the Rack has convinced me that I’m going to try her #BBG workout while on vacay, and I have no idea why I said yes. (Do any of y’all do this? It seems intense, and I’m not quite sure if I’ve brought my A game with me to Mexico.) I guess I need a little something to erase all of the upcoming margs and tacos or the unexpected Italian meal that we kicked things off with. Does Anyone Else Miss Gossip Girl?

You guys, over the past few years, I’ve worn a ton of cabi pieces on the blog (and in real life, of course), but today’s look of theirs may be my favorite to date. This little nautical blazer is just about the cutest thing for spring. It’s a thick jersey material, so it’s flattering and stretchy, and the striped cuffs are removable for more versatility. Pair it with this floral two-piece look (wear it together, separate, tucked, or untucked), and I feel like I should be setting sail for someplace fabulous.

When I showed up to shoot this look with Vincent, he told me I reminded him of Blair Waldorf, which is obviously the highest form of flattery. (Also obvious, we’ll go with Blair with a dose of Serena mixed in – the blonde hair doesn’t lie.) Does anyone else miss Gossip Girl? I was always a Gilmore Girls type of gal, but I have to admit, once I watched all the seasons of Gossip Girl, it was hands-down my favorite GG show. And I probably haven’t watched a full season of anything since it went off the air. Sad but true. Actually, I take that back. I’ve seen quite a few episodes of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. How times have changed.

Festival Season Style

True story, a couple of summers ago, Eric and I were hanging out on our patio in Newport Beach with a couple of friends when this guy rode by on a bike and yelled “Why aren’t you guys at the Lido Theater right now? You’re missing it, man!” Obviously we were pretty curious, decided to head over to the theater and found out they were live-streaming the last-ever Grateful Dead concert from Chicago.

I wasn’t much of a fan at the time, and although Eric knew a bunch of their songs he certainly was never really a Deadhead. But we decided to stick around anyway because we didn’t have any plans and it seemed like a fun place to have a couple of cocktails. We were definitely the youngest people in the theater, but y’all, it was so much fun. While some people sat in their seats watching and listening, a ton of people were dancing in the aisles, singing along, reliving some past concert I’m sure. I thought, is my generation going to do this someday to Backstreet Boys or something? Probably not.

Anywho, it was a pretty cool experience, and so this little Grateful Dead tank is definitely a new favorite of mine. And how great is it for festival season, which is officially upon us? Add a pair of cut-offs and sandals for an easy-peasy, Coachella-approved look. And while I’m not actually heading to Coachella this year (I’ve decided that maybe I’m too old for all that jazz?), I’m definitely down with dressing the part. Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

Gingham and Stripes

Hip, hip, hooray for the three-day weekend, y’all! Although I’ll be honest, my brain switched into weekend mode somewhere around Thursday, so it’s really been about four days of freedom around here. Today got off to a slow start, but I’m finally getting around to sharing this fun spring look with some of my favorite basics. I first posted this cabi cardigan back here, and I love how it pairs so easily with dresses or jeans, dressed up or down. These white jeans are from a few seasons back, but I recently tried on this similar style and this one and LOVE them both. (They run a bit big, so size down.) And finally, if you guys haven’t tried these wedges yet, get on it! They are so comfortable, and for some reason I find them super flattering on my feet. (If you’ve checked them out online, you’ll notice that some of the comments say that they rub the back of your ankles uncomfortably. For me, that did happen with the right shoe, but I added in a pad to the shoe, and they’re a dream now. Just an FYI!) I’m linking two versions at two price points above. Best Spring Wedges

The rest of the week may have a little rain in the forecast, but today just so happens to be warm and sunny, bare-legged, Spring dress weather around here and I’m not complaining one bit. I wasted no time pulling out this printed shirtdress from cabi’s latest collection, and seriously, how good is it paired back with their long striped cardi? Pretty good. And then there are the spring wedges that I will most likely be wearing well into summer and beyond. These were hugely popular last year (this version), but I resisted the urge because honestly they were a bit narrow on my foot. This year, when I saw the perforated version, I knew I had to give them another shot. And I’m so glad that I did because I swear, these are SO comfortable. They are pretty tall but super easy to walk in and go with just about everything in my spring wardrobe. If you haven’t checked out these spring wedges yet (or the budget-friendly version here), I’d definitely recommend taking them for a stroll. My favorite kind of stroll? The kind that ends at Juice Served Here in Lido Marina because I swear I’m addicted. Iced Matcha? Yes, please. I thought I might have slight regrets for skipping New York Fashion Week this season, but I’m looking around and there’s no #FOMO in sight. Hope everyone is having a great week!
