Clearly, I’ve got cozy on the brain these days (Did you guys see yesterday’s post?), and the cozy feels are translating right over to my Christmas gift list.  I can’t help myself.  I feel like I’m always hesitant to buy myself super comfy PJ’s and slippers or a luxe throw for our house, but when I receive them as gifts?  Ohhh, girlfriend, look out because it’s pajamas on the couch time ALL. DAY. LONG.  (Much to Eric’s dismay.  Can you believe he doesn’t believe in PJ’s and wears JEANS up until it’s time to sleep?  It’s a real mystery to me.)  And then there are scented candles.  These days, I seriously can’t get enough.  I’m like a candle hoarder, but the kind who actually lights them all the time and doesn’t just let them sit there looking pretty.  And while I love a good, luxe candle like the next gal, I swear nothing beats the Stress Relief candle from Bath & Body Works to me.  Swear!  (I’m actually heading to a “Favorite Things” gift exchange next week where you bring a couple of your favorite things to give away, and it got me thinking about this candle.  Fave for sure.)  Anybody else on the cozy gifts train with me?  What are some of your favorite things to give (and keep)?

November is here, guys, and you know what that means?  The holidays are coming!  Now, while I’m holding off on decking the halls so far (Eric says not until after Thanksgiving, bah humbug…), I think it’s never too soon to plan a little holiday style.  And today I’m kicking things off with the perfect look for a holiday-themed night with the girls.  If there’s one thing that I think my wardrobe always, ALWAYS needs, it’s a great pair of leather shorts.  I’m sure that sounds at least a little bit crazy because leather shorts probably aren’t considered a wardrobe staple for most people, but I’m obsessed.  A couple of weeks ago I finally had to retire my beloved Forever 21 pair that I’ve worn 4,789 times (with heels, OTK boots, sandals, with tights, you name it), and so the hunt for a replacement pair was on.  Luckily, the search didn’t last long.  I popped into the BCBG store while I was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago, and scooped these right off of the sale rack.  Now I’m passing on a little bit of the good luck to you because these babies are on sale online as well and still in stock in most sizes.  But don’t wait around, because I’m sure they won’t last long.  For a girlfriends’ holiday party, pair them with over-the-knee boots (and tights if it’s cold enough), a pretty little tie-neck blouse, and a fun coat or jacket.  This one from cabi is a total fave – it’s like a classic pea coat, but it’s made of thick, cozy sweater material.  A sparkly little handbag (like this one that’s currently 60% off) adds the perfect finishing touch.  Ready or not, the holidays are coming, girl, so you might as well get your wardrobe ready!

Y’all, I’ve got a new summer love, and it’s everywhere I look these days.  On dresses, shorts, accessories, and a really good two-piece number, I’m loving on all things gingham print.  For some reason it’s like a little blast from the past to me, and I can’t help but think of a summer picnic.  (A picnic that I totally plan to make happen this year.  Beach picnic, anyone?)  I can’t really decide if I’m partial to the classic black and white or a little splash of color, but with all of the options out there, I’m thinking I’ll go with both.  Anyone else feeling the gingham print love these days?

Day to Night Little Black Dress

Formerly the (self-professed) queen of little black dresses and currently a reformed, color-wearing convert, it’s been quite a while since I’ve found a little black dress that has me hopping back on the LBD party bus.  Until now.  And just go figure that it’s Riller & Fount, the brand that first fueled my obsession.  This one is gathered in front, giving it an updated high-low silhouette, and the fabric is just so yummy.  It’s perfect for day to night with sandals or strappy heels and even more perfect for the really (REALLY) hot days we’ve had here lately.  113 degrees, anyone?  I took these photos right before this heatwave hit, so…bomber jacket.  (Which I also love.)  I’m also pretty sure that these lace-up sandals could make any little black dress better.  Now if I could only fast-forward a couple of days to Friday, I’d really have it all figured out.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Well in case you missed it, last Wednesday officially kicked off fall, and this girl was ready.  REAL ready.  This is the time when Eric goes into a little depression that summer is over, but I’m over here happy as a clam anticipating a break from the heat.  Because sweating your makeup off and general hot-and-bothered moods are just not cute.  And because with the cooler weather comes all things fall fashion.  Bring on the scarves, the fur, the sweaters, and most of all, the booties.

Now in case you’re like “I’m just not the booties type of girl,” I present to you Exhibit A.  These G by Guess kicks from DSW Shoes aren’t your typical pair of fall booties.  They’re basically a cage heel pretending to be booties, and I’m A-OK with that.  These gals could easily complete any girls’ night out look, jazz up an LBD, or play nice with your new favorite suede skirt and shearling bomber combo.  (Umm, this jacket, you guys? Softest thing on the planet.)  So while I’m totally a “booties type of girl,” these just kicked my love for them up a notch.  And also, a few more kicks to love below.  Fall is here, people — go get yourself a little wardrobe reboot!

When I first heard about a purse that has a built-in charger to give me a little extra phone life on the go, I was like, “YESSSSS.”  Sign me up.  Immediately.  I mean, I love it for my everyday life, but imagine how clutch this bag would be at your next concert, festival, conference, etc.  It’s a whole good idea really.  As for the outfit, I don’t think I’ve ever met a pair of leather shorts I didn’t like, and these are no exception.  This ivory perforated pair is a total steal and can easily transform a good ole’ shorts and tank combo.  Add a bomber jacket and voila: Sporty Spice meets street style.

If you’ve ever heard someone in photography talking about Golden Hour, I’m pretty sure this is exactly the lighting they’re gushing about.  And for good reason.  Lately this lightweight pants and bomber jacket situation has been a go-to for events, and it was perfect for a dinner earlier this week.  It’s part of JustFab’s new clothing collection, is comfy as hell, and rings in under $100 for the set.  Winner, winner.  We’re spending this weekend in Laughlin, NV celebrating Eric’s 30th, and if you’ve ever been to Laughlin, you know it’ll be a crazy one.  Follow along on Instagram for snaps of what should be an interesting weekend.  Happy Friday, everyone!
