Well, Mother’s Day is officially upon us – are you still slacking?  Mother’s Day always seems to creep up on me, but I must admit I’m one of the lucky ones.  My mom is my best friend, and when buying gifts for her, I tend to find something that I’d love for myself.  That’s what best friends do, right?  Whether your mom could use a relaxing day at home with a luxe blanket or cozy slippers or she’s the accessorizing type, you can’t go wrong with one of the tokens of love above.  So shower Mom with love and find a little something that says “I love you”.  Happy almost Mother’s Day to all the moms out there, especially my own.

SheInside dress;  Zara clutch (similar here) and scarf (similar);  Urban Outfitters socks;  BCBGeneration heels via Marshalls;  Boera ring;  Urban Decay Revolution lipstick in ’69’

If there ever was a most used and over-abused piece in my closet (besides the one too many blanket scarves I never take off), it would definitely be this slouchy t-shirt dress (last seen here) from SheInside.  Whether dressed up with over the knee boots or oxfords or worn casual with combat boots, it’s the one thing I wanted to wear all day everyday this past holiday season.  (And I’m going to pretend that’s not because I could eat a dozen cookies unnoticed in this thing.)  When your favorite piece of clothing costs about 15 bucks, the only reasonable thing to do is stock up on a couple of extras and throw in the grey version for good measure.  Crazy?  Maybe.  Smooth sailing until spring?  Definitely.

If there’s one piece in my closet that I can’t get enough of this winter, it’s definitely the oversized, oh-so-cozy blanket scarves that rarely leave my neck.  I’ve paired them with every outfit, from dresses to jeans to sweats, and today’s look has become pretty standard.  If you’re still looking for those last-minute holiday gifts, these scarves are seriously a no-brainer.  How’s that holiday shopping list coming along?

Holiday Gift Guide: Cozy at Home

Picture

Sometimes the best gifts are the ones you don’t really want to spoil yourself with.  As someone who loves clothes (and accessories…and shoes…and makeup…), I don’t often treat myself to those wear-at-home pieces that don’t make it out of the house.  That said, I always enjoy getting those nice little at-home luxuries as gifts.  A nice candle, cozy blanket, or toasty pair of slippers, and I’m one happy camper.  Above are just a few indulgences that I think are perfect for the girl who could probably use a night in or lazy day anyway.  (And for the record, I would totally buy these cute sweatpants, wear them with the awesome white tee and scarf, add a leather jacket and booties, and call it a day.  Voila, house clothes out on the town.)  So what hard-to-buy-for friends and family are still on your list?

Holiday Gift Guide: $30 and Under

Picture

It’s that time of year again: I’m rounding up a few of my favorite things and talking holiday gifts for everyone on your list.  I’ve got a few in the works, but I’m starting things off with a few under $30 finds that won’t break the bank.  So skip the headache and laugh at the lines because checking names off your holiday list just got a whole lot easier.  My personal fave?  Well let’s just say I’ve already scooped up #10 for myself.  (I’ve got to test things out and make sure they’re worthy, right?)

Holiday Gift Guide: For the Hostess

This holiday season, don’t be the schmoe showing up at every festive shindig empty-handed.  For easy hostess ideas, think of pieces that are great for entertaining like eye-catching tortoise bowls, stemless festive wine glasses or personalized party ware like a great cheese board or wine stopper.  Delicious treats are always a hit, or give your hostess a little something cozy for after the party is done.  A soft faux fur blanket or scarf will make a lasting impression, while luxe bath products make for a much-appreciated post-holiday wind-down.  At the end of the day, whether you stock up on your go-to choice of wine or want to think a little outside of the bottle, make your mama proud, and show your appreciation for the hostess with the mostest.
